Love American pick up trucks and vans.
How much is petrol over there? I think on the mainland the price is around a dollar a liter. This is a national calamity and is bringing about the end of human(American) civilization.
Go to Maui Coffee Roasters for a coffee (it's not bad) and then walk around the back of the building. They have a monster truck workshop there (they did when I was there) and usually have some wild examples of the big wheel 4 wheel drives.
Just about every second car is a ute over there and the winsurfers just hang their boards out the back of the tray. The locals proabably aren't concerned about security for their gear, it's a small island!
they just love a big truck dont they lol. We were over there last year and one of the trucks had wheels almost as tall as me. so cool. Most of the crew at kanaha were driving vans which were huge but they thought they were tiny.
Maybe the higher they are off the ground, the bigger the p_n_s of the owner?
(unless it's a chick driving then obviously doesn't apply)
Really all about being TOUGH n' MACHO, isn't it?
i think with american truck prices, having one of them is no more special than driving a commodore over here.
god we get ripped off in this great country of ours.
They do have drive through though, never seen one get stuck but Im sure it happens.
On Front St in Lahaina some of the locals have these low rider utes with the whole tray a stereo speaker system. As they cruise past they use hydraulics to tilt the bed towards the tourists and crank the volume of the doof doof.
Pretty funny to watch the tourists freak out.
Sure the F150 is produced in Mexico as well as the USA because its cheaper to make them there. However when it comes to other goods that are sold far cheaper in the USA than Australia which are made in a third country such as German, Japan or China, it appears that Austrailans are ripped off.
I bought a camera this year for I think $310 (not totally sure) from the USA via eBay. The price included sending it to Australia. The same camera costs about $480 here. The camera was made in China.
So someone, somewhere along the line is making good money out of selling them in Australia.
Of course the ACCC won't do anything about this sort of issue.
Mistral is alive and well, your second hand info is wrong!!
