Just posted a few pics of Milang. There IS still enough water to sail and it is a really pretty spot. But the River Murray is in trouble.

It was a great weekend all in. We had pretty good wind today. MauiSails Loco 5.6m and MauiSails Glabal 5.0m were used.

Susie, can you email the pics to me at work? boardshop@glascraft.com.au

Thanks

Tino

i did a sailing nationals there a few years ago, and there was at least a metre more water in there than that, even then we were touching bottom pretty often. not good.

Sure thing. It will have to be tomorrow, or if you want them full size I can mail a cd.

Hey Susie - are those pics of the jetty and foreshore taken in a strong offshore, or is that the general water level now ?
Keep the pics coming by the way, they're great.

Those photos were taken in a really light wind. I can't remember the direction. That's pretty much the water level now. There is a bit of a sandbank out a little bit, but I think beyond that is ok. I didn't actually sail but that's what Tino said. And you can see the sandbank. The water is really salty and the grasses have all died, so they may as well open the barrage cos the dairy farmers can't use the water now.
You can still sail at The Goo (Goolwa) if you work out where the channel is, and get really great flat out long runs from the barrage down to near the bridge in a sw or in a se from Rankins across to the marina near the paddlesteamer. Just watch the yachts on a Friday night, they have the channel sussed. Its a really long walk across the lake otherwise.

Hmmmm. I'm heading to "the Goo" for a couple of days - think I'll take the old waveboard with its shallow fin and see if that works. cheers
