...Weed fins I should have said
A big box arrived from Canada this morning that brought a smile to my face, I think I'm now covered for any sort weedy conditions that may ever occur.
Some Pics...
Most would know that I've been raving about these fins for ages now, If you see me on lake illawarra or anywhere else for that matter and want to give them a go then just sing out and I'm more then happy the set you up. I'm that confident that you'll like them for build quality, value for money and performance that you will be in the market for one after you test drive. I've got fins from 8-10cm/16-17cm Quad/Twinzer(US box) sets up to 33cm freerace, with wave and bump & jump covered as well with 20-30cm wave/freeride fins(US/Powerbox).
....I will review in detail when I get a chance to take them for a spin
Hey jase, don't do things by half, go the whole hog and buy the entire range!!!
Oh wait .... Never mind
why are alot of people buying from Canada - it the market cheaper ?
look nice , how much did the cost you inc post
It's just that Makani fins are based in Canada.
They do really good deals and Jean Robert is a top bloke !! (he throws in really nice tee shirts with the fins !!!!!)
"My stash of weed...." Don't want to loose the house under asset confiscation Laws.. Your weed stash looks good though.
If your into match-fixing as-well give us a good tip off !
Makani are also getting into slalom fins. I'm currently trying a couple of the final prototypes. The "SL1" (left) is the high-wind slalom fin and the "SL2" (right) is the light wind slalom fin...
I also like the look of the weedies and bought a couple to try along with a regular freeride fin. Pic of 2 weedies, freeride and slalom fins below...
These fins perform well and are excellent value for money. I'm putting together a bulk order for delivery in July/August - when the production slalom fins become available. If anyone wants to get involved, message me and I'll try to help you out.
Nice looking fins.
I tried a weedie the other week at Wallis Lakes on my FSW board and even though it was a decent size fin I never felt like I could push of the back foot or use the same trim that I would normally have for that board. Mind you the fin is over 15 years old (a MFC Weed speed) so designs may have improved since then. I also found that I still managed to catch some weed.
I'm thinking of getting a weedie for my slalom board so I can give Lake Illawarra a run.
I currently use a Tectonics Falcon 32 (on my 80 & 90L slalom boards). What size and type weed fin would I need to replace the Falcon 32? Looking for suggestions in Makani or other brands that will allow me to go fast with confidence.
