I suppose If Neil Pryde can make bikes - Avanti can make sails

With Finian as rider I imagine their race gear will be tops....... we may even get a wave sail for heavy blokes. Sooner they start on boards the better

Sounds pretty exciting I think ...

Dan owns a Quantum sail loft in the US, where the development will be done I am assuming. Supposed to be introducing technologies like technora loadpath membrane sails (like yachts have had for a looooong time). Can't imagine that sort of thing will be cheap!

Their new race sail is called the M-1 and is registered for 2012 PWA use. I'm not sure how they managed that, as you are supposed to produce/sell 10 of each sail size to be eligible for PWA use. Hard to sell sails over European winter ...

Good to see a new player out there though - Dan was always a legendary sail designer ;-)

Looks sweet Ben. No cambers? What is the meterage? How will it stand up to having 90+kg of lard person thrown against it in a stack? How light? 4 battens?
You cant just throw out these little teasers without some real specs

Didn't put any cams in this one. Size is 5.3. Weighs just over 2kg - next one will be under. Won't have any 90kg people thrown against it unless I go ballistic at Christmas lunch tomorrow... this one is just made for ME. (Gotta make the most of having a sail loft!)

Apparently they don't jybe or tack very well, but fast in a straight line.

The yacht load path sails are supposed to be cheaper than conventional multi panel sails.

Also check their masts. They look very good - made in Australia!

Yeah it says it's CST.. Damn I extended a boom with carbon tubes from those guys like 8 years ago.. Once again ahead of my time..

The guy there inquired about windsurfing masts when I told him what I was up to.. I told him they were black and kinda pointy at one end, fat at the other. He seemed pretty confident he could make 'em..

I made on RC sail with the same technologie few years ago but in carbon not in cheap technora
The sail was a bit to stiff though and it's was squite hard to lay the fiber on a panel of less than a meter
