Hi Rex. I ordered it from the helcam website, i ordered it without the waterproof pack and microphone, as the mic is not waterproof & the pack is too bulky. It reduced the price by $200 or so. I still think it's overpriced for what it is but I didn't want to risk buying a dodgy ebay one. There are quite a few online yankee and pommy sellers of the same camera spec on ebay for only 200 - 300, but i guess by the time it gets here and exchange rate it'll be close to the price i paid anyway

as soon as i get some sailing footage i'll pop it up on the server. The bullet cam's colours and low light sensitivity are amazing, much better than the camcorder itself

cheers

Hey Haircut,

If you need some footage of what a catapult looks like to the sailor or bystander eye view of your mad loops then feel free to offer me the backpack next time you see me

You can find a rundown on the gear I used for the helmet cam here.

The Youtube footage has lost a lot of resolution due to file size issues.

Pelican cases are water proof cases. pelican.com/home.php

Haircut: make sure the epoxy has bonded properly to your case. It sometimes doesnt stick very well to some plastics and a small tug on the wire could break it off. I also prefer to beat ** out of this type of thing before putting the expensive camcorder inside. Make sure you treat it rougher in the "test" than it will experience in actual use otherwise its not a test.

As an added backup I also used a dry bag over the pelican case. www.seatosummit.com.au/showproduct.php?Category=Dry%20and%20Storage%20Sacks
These also tend to get damp on the inside but combined with the pelican case I havent had any troubles.

Cheers
Brett

hi Brett. I actually found some pelly cases in a shop today and now know what you are talking about. I noticed that a couple of them hardly press the seals together at all and I doubt that all of them will be waterproof, so I reckon you did the right thing by putting your stuff in the bag as an extra precaution. The ip68 box I bought appears to seal all the way round very well. fingers crossed anyway
