Has anyone got an ingenious way of altering the downhaul pulley block orientation by 90 degrees on brands such as Severne etc so that the North XT works most efficiently? (without the downhaul rope crossing and while maintaining the "loop and go" feature)

(the irony is that the Pryde sails work really well on it)

I've set up a "twisted shackle" on one sail which is ok, but I'm contemplating something different on my next attempt.

Any good solutions ?

I use mine with a severne with no problem it you thread it like this...

It will go all the way down no problems, you also upgrade the extension to the 'race' version, that uses all three rollers, and won't twist the pulley, it will even fit on the skinny XT, but you have to thread it, (no loop go) I ordered the part but it never arrived, so I stick with this method and it works find.

This is another method also where you loop the rope from around the other side, it similar to how it would work if you 'upgraded' the extension but the rope does need to go underneath.

that doesn't look like "North XT downhaul" (TM) rope I see on your setup there racerX?

Reading the documentation I got the impression that the XT would self-destruct instantly when coming into contact with anything other than the North approved downhaul. Can you let me know what you used and how it works compared to the original? Or does North already have a binding non-disclosure undertaking in place to prevent leaks?

Thank racerx. I will try both your methods with my severnes.

-The twisted shackle (which I got from a yacht shop) seems like a winner. I've attached it to my 5.7 and I'm waiting for the right day to try it out. I'm also trying to add some pulley wheels to finish it off.

If it works out, it maintains the loop and go feature and will keep everything in natural alignment with no twisting effect at all.

My north XT rope wore out and was replaced with a different kind of rope (by the retailer) which works fine. I couldn't tell you what it is, but it's red.
