For me at 88 kg = 94 litre fanatic quad 12 model, use with 5.7 / 5.3 from 15 knots to 30 knots for waves and blasting perfect one board for east coast conditions. Now have a sup Allwave, surfboard, and kona mini tanker, all conditions covered, but 94 quad is the only one i couldn't do with out, and use 75 % time wave sailing. Rest of time on water just surfing and use the sup for the small days.
here is my other one board quiver. not designed by me but designed for me.
takes a sail for surf and a centre fin for flatwater, or just go surfing/sup'ing..
specs are
Dimensions - 240cmx71cm ofo 46cm
Bottom shape - single concave into double concave spiral V into flat V, scooped slalom rocker.
Rail shape - hard tucked tail through to soft mid section
Tail shape - squashed pin with chamfer
Fin setup - single/tri fin convertible. powerbox/fin solutions.
Pads - Heel bumpers plus 6mm pads
grip - full deck grip coat.
Construction - double vacuum bagged timber veneer and hardcore foam sandwich. carbon kevlar reinforced impact and high stress areas.
i did the graphics in photoshop then transfered to cad and laser cut stencils for spraying. board i designed in cad and templates were cut.
i use the board from 12kn/6.4m to 35kn/4.7m. have used it in everything from flat/choppy water to small waves/rolling bay swells. others have used it to do freestyle. it's basically a freestyle wave board for my 110kg. to get more of a wave bias i would make the tail more pin orientated but that reduces the planning threshold slightly. on this board we tried 3 different tails and 2 outlines. rocker was a known quantity from previous designs.
interesting the talk of outboard straps. i agree they are needed. i just missed the boat with my board. it was an after thought i had but by the time i had spoken to the shaper the vacumm bagging and bump pads had been completed so i was reluctant to get him to cut up the board and install extra plugs.
i use the board in freeride mode with a 32cm freewave fin and a 6.4m it handles that well. if i had outboard straps i could go to a 42cm fin and 7.5-8m sail for more slalom type blasting. in small surf or high wind sailing i use it as a tri fin. the tri fin option adds a fair bit to the top end of the boards wind range.
in medium winds i usually go with a 24cm freestyle fin and the 5.8 or 5.3m sail.
this board was laser measured for cnc production. all production versions of the board got the inboard outboard rear strap option.
sorry gazman i missed your post.
cheers for the complement too.
i'm not sure what the shaper ended up doing there. probably just turned the front plugs 90degrees. but not sure.
i was chasing double rear straps with a 50mm or so rear strap gap. so wasn't going to worry about the front.
