Thumbs Up

The Windsurfer One Design nationals are heading back to Port Stephens NSW from 26 to 29 January next year. We're hoping to break our recent record fleet of 57 entries, which will once again give the Wallies the biggest fleet at any windsurfing nationals. But it's not really about breaking records or close and fair competition, it's all about sharing the simple joy of the simplest, cheapest way anyone can slide across the water.

We'll be sailing from the Salamander Shores motel at Soldiers Point - that's the big place in the centre bottom of the pic. They are offering discount rates on rooms for competitors.

We should be able to make some charter boards available, and the fixed-daggerboard originals are also welcome (and surprisingly competitive in light winds). Plus there's the usual short-course racing for kids on Junior One Designs (that is, kids 15 years and under with sails 4.5m or less).

For more information, go to the One Design blogspot at

wodoz.blogspot.com/

See you there!
