Replacement parts for OLD windsurfer

Hi, first time posting, found some useful info from the forum to help get me started.

Decided I would try to have some fun at Toowoon Bay the other day, still learning, and managed to snap my fin...

Any idea where I can find a replacement or alternative? Scoured the net but haven't found anything. It is from an old Ten Cate Runner. Tried a Chinook fin but it felt too loose side to side in the box.

The other question is whether to find parts for a Windsurfer One Design or sell the board (yellow, retractable centreboard). Bought missing centreboard and fin. I've seen parts for this from a store but wasn't planning to spend too much money on it unless it would be strongly recommended. I've enjoyed the Ten Cate several times up Myall Lakes (only board I've ridden is two of these).

Thanks

Tardy

Your loose fitting fin should work with some shimming, cut a aluminium can into strips 50mm x 80mm, place lengthways under fin with one end of fin slotted into fin box and push down folding it into fin box, use as many shims as needed to get a firm fit.

Welcome on board McB.

Any "US base" fin should fit. It looks like the fin box has seen a bit of work so do what pirrad said or put duct tape around the base of the fin. It is not unusual for there to be a bit of play and to pack it would with something.

As far as the one design goes, there are parts still available. Windgenuity in Sydney still makes them (legend). However, I do not recall ever seeing any colour other than white (in the retractable centreboard model). There were some very similar boards made by bombora which did have colour, and had an allagier type daggerboard (still available). Maybe post some pics. If the old one design is in good condition, by all means keep it.

If the gear hasn't seen much use for a while, it is highly recommended to replace the universal joint before it fails.

Success! Some trusty cable ties packing underneath the fin. Went out for an hour or so today and had a few good (although slow) runs. Yep, uni joint is on the way out will be looking into that eventually suspect it will be a case of retrofitting a modern one in some way - it is one of those nylon ones with the base that slides into one of two slots in the board - read about someone else doing it before.

With regards to the other windsurfer, any help with identification of the board and what type of centreboard and fin I need would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions and and encouragement

I believe that is a windsurfer one design and looks like the later version (with retracting centreboard) and has a mast track, so not the original version with the old mechanical universal and "t piece", that I fondly remember.

I believe the best contact for centreboard and fin would be windgenuity:www.windgenuity.com.au/

Also this may be the fin:

Hope this helps.
