Hi I am keen for a long weekend away with the missus and want to stay as close to the waves as possible in Robe.
Not over the Easter wavesailing event (I wish) but if anyone knows of a good place to stay for a weekend then please let me know.
Cheers
The long beach caravan park is across from the beach and few hundred metres from the boat ramp that you use to drive to third ramp - - gets a bit soft about five hundred metres before the ramp you probably need a 4 wheelie to get all the way around -especially as the tide comes in. but you can come in from the main road
This van park has an indoor pool and heaps of cabins - not much different in price to some of the houses though.
Theres a main beach Caravan park that is closer to the town that has great sea views from the camping sites
There is a heap of houses around that end for pretty good rates - just search Robe accomodation I have stayed in one with the whole tribe that sleeps about 8 with everything you need for about 130 a night but its a few streets back from the beach. There are some great esplanade ones as well - but you pay for the privelage
Make sure you take some water to drink because the water here tastes like effluent from a chemical factory. Specially in the caravan park.
Oh. Hang on. You're from S.A. anyway so you're probably used to it.
Robe dosen't look good for the long weekend, The forcast is for winds from the west and northwest, this is onshore at Robe, but cross and cross off from the right at beachport but ,the swell is also on the rise sunday. Beachport will also have a crew out at the lake.
I am looking at April sometime.
S & SW side shore at Long beach? or doe sit have to go SE?
Also where do people sail at Beachport other than the Lake?
Is there anywhere else down there where it is good to sail?
when i did my melb to perth camping adventure ... the robe campsite was voted No1... amazing views, great location, sunrise worth waking up for..overlooking ocean and good windsurfing.....
Beachport has a break about a kilometre out of town, known to locals as surfers, or you could be game and sail out to the reefs, some nice waves and open water sailing to be had if you are experienced. Robes is more consistant though.
