I'm in the market for 2 larger sails, around 6.5 and 8.5m. Cutaway clews seem all the rage now, I'm wondering if anyone has had any reliability problems with these new school clews? They look like they would split along the batten above easier, just wondering if this is the case?

I have the rs-slaloms in 7m and 7.8m and agree the clew is abit of a pain, the sails are becoming shorter and wider for some reason. the boom lengths aren,t really any shorter its the clew thats longer.
The battern above the boom cops abuse on the beach or grass before launching and also when the sil is rolled up for storage. But on the water they perform superbly.
Hope this helps.

I have done 1700Km (30+ outings) on my 2011 Loft Racing Blade 7m and have had no issues with the cut away clew. Great sail and still looks as new. Good build quality.

I also have the RS-Slaloms and the only problem in the last 3 years has been my carelessness in the water and on the beech.
I have broken the batten above the clew in a stalled gybe, back winded and caught it in the water and putting in the car.
Other than that they have been great.
