Many thanks to everyone in Australia who joined me for the INtuition Windsurfing Coaching Courses during the last three weeks- freeriders in Safety Bay, wave sailors at Lancellin and Wedge Island, the Sydney gang at Jervis Bay and the Melbourne crew at Inverloch- awesome groups, loads of fun and very productive for everybody.

I enjoyed the company of about 80 Aussie guests in total at some of the best windsurfing development locations in the world and will definitely be back in January 2014 to help encourage everyone to new windsurfing heights and drink more of your remarkably cultured red wines.

Special thanks to, in no particular order, Jimbo, Jonah, Louise, Uncle Tony, Nick, Euan, Lancellin Lodge, Darren and Wendy, Dougy Fresh, Inverloch Windsurfing Club, cousin Cimmie, Big Mick, Dan, Simon, Julia, Natasha, and Anne at Windsurf and Snow- huge thanks for your generosity, support, drinks cabinets and making my trip to Australia such a good time.

It's been emotional....

Yes "THANK YOU" Guy, It's the best few days I've had windsurfing since I started about 5 years ago. It's was also my first ever lesson....But what a lesson, So much to take in over 2 days but it's all coming back to me every time I hit the water.
It was great to meet some of the seabreeze celebrities and put faces to the names, I wish it could only have been longer and I'm looking forward to the next...Where ever it is (Gerroa)

Things I got out of it...

30 inch lines
Harness on the hips(with a fixed bar)
Pull down on the boom(for almost everything)
Get your hips square and push your arse out
Sail tuning(downhaul)

...And much much more but these have made a massive difference to the way I sail.

"Rock Out"

Thanks again.

Not flaming you Mark and I can understand your cynicism but sometimes you need to meet the person before you make comment. When you do meet Guy you will understand this is a genuine comment and not a plug.

I have to agree with you Salty. You had to be there, Mark.

Best 2 days I've ever spent windsurfing - & we didn't even get on the water the 2nd day! Intense & thorough.

Now I must practice, so I'm off to Hawkes Nest on Pt Stephens for the weekend.

Yeh a pimp but I have to admit that I got a lot out of the course, had fun and as anyone who has met me in the last couple of weeks would confirm it has really primed my sailing enthusiasm. I feel like I have significantly improved my wavesailing and even aspects like waterstarting which after 30 years of sailing came as a real surprise.

Just in case it starts to fill up, I would like to register 4 places right now for the January course.

It was a privilege to spend time with you and we really appreciated you sharing your extensive knowledge and wisdom. Things became suddenly so clear and my wife was overjoyed to finally get the key to aspects of the gybe which were eluding her for so many years. In two days, you have given us enough to work on for some time. I was so glad that we had a no wind day (incredibly I wish we had three) since it gave us the opportunity to learn so much in discussion with you and later do plenty of invaluable on-shore muscle memory training. Alex cried all the way to school the next day and said that he just wants to go back to "boarding" school with you. A few people were surprised when I told them I was going on your course because they didn't think I needed lessons but I think that I was able to take even more from the things you said because I already had a lot of experience and skills. Amazing how much more you can learn! You made a huge impact on us all and we are so glad to have met you in person.

I'm with you Mark. No matter how nice the guy is, a pimp is still a pimp.
There are many site sponsors who provide lessons and one on one coaching and they would have the ability to pimp their services. Mr. Crib, the nice guy that he is, is still advertising without being a site sponsor.

^^^Why does Guy have to advertise to show appreciation on the most popular ws website in Aus? He would just have to raise costs to cover addition overheads...I see it as a genuine thanks using the best medium to get the message across.

Good on you Guy!

^^^ geez I didn't say it was a big thing, it was just by way of observation.

No doubt many people saw it and said "oh I didn't know Cribby did clinics here I might have a look into that...."

Not starting an argument Sailhack but to say thanks he could email participants and sponsors, that would be the 'best medium' ......... putting it on here does look a bit like pimping.

Yes he's a top fella but he is just as big a 'brand' as Seabreeze or Severne or Starboard.

Great clinic..only got my first decent 20kts yesterday to try out some of the tips..Unfortunately I'd just broken my boom and spent 1/2hr swimming and being rescued by a cruiser. I was too tired to sail long or well but what a difference!

Love the locked down feeling with the stance and the way I felt like I ate the chop for once and it didn't eat me..Gybe entry tips must be working too as the chop didn't seem as nasty..
Already scheming how I can get to the next one.

Hey, pimping or not, I think its great knowing about international instructors coming here to do clinics. I would be happy to hear about any of the other name-brand instructors you read about. There just aren't that many... Simon Bornhoft maybe is the only other one?

As others have said, this is THE place to talk about windsurfing, and if a bunch of us get to have some great instruction for a couple of days, so much the better.

There do seem to be a couple of NP/JP boards and sails in the shots though, although I think WSnS might be the reason for that in Sydney

If you liked the clinic at Sanctuary Point, you would have loved the Safety Bay one. 4 days, with wind every day, although some of use were made to sail "under powered"... ohhh the shame of it

Didn't you guys get a discussion about carbon booms?...

All I can say is good riddens to Mr Cribb.

My arms are sore, shoulders and legs the same. Lost my voice from yelling out "arse" and Vroom Vroom and probably from laughing so hard. Especially when he fell for the Drop Bear scam Learnt heaps for an intermediate windsurfer and know the advanced windsurfers picked up a lot as well. And we had him instructing/talking windsurfing 18 hrs a day. Wahoo!
Been a tough week getting back into work.
No - Thank you Guy and look forward to your return to Inverloch in 2014.

Yep the Safety Bay one must have been great although I don't know if my neck could handle 4 days.. It didn't like 2!
Re boom- pity I can't afford one.. Still it's the first boom I've broken in 20 years of sailing and it was a freebie thrown in when I bought a boom 2 seasons ago so I can't complain.I noticed it was all corroded inside the tube from salt water..I assume that's why they all break ( aluminium ones..) ?
I must admit now I'm using so much more downforce and it was on my first run using the new technique that it broke I'm getting a bit paranoid..

It's great to see Guy coming to Australia. I went to a Guy course in Morocco in 2007 and it was awesome. Guy is not a marketing machine who is 'getting the maximum value from his social media interactions and strategic brand value'... If you met him you'd realise that he'd see that as far too hard.

Likewise, it's also great that Mark Australia is so defensive of the Seabreeze business model. I'd hate to think what would happen if people could just randomly post windsurfing content without it being thoroughly checked for the slightest commercial interest first... The global multi trillion windsurfing industry would be spamming all 87 of us out of existence....

I think this relates to an expression not used often nowadays, which is Mast Foot Pressure.

From my limited knowledge, pulling down on the boom increases Mast Foot Pressure giving the sailor more control and therefore, success, in pulling off a variety of moves.

Cheers

PS: I think it's fantastic people such as Guy Cribb are coming to Australia - I would certainly sign up for a weeks' INtuition course, provided it can be held somewhere here with consistent planing winds for the 7 days!
