Interesting to see that one of the big production surfboard manufacturers is offering a limited degree of customization as part of their online board ordering service, the board is still delivered to your local shop for pick up and the extra cost is pretty reasonable.

Obviously surfboard manufacture is a much bigger business than windsurfer manufacture but I would imagine it would be still possible for a brand to offer some customization of their standard shapes albeit at a greater cost and longer waiting times.

The surfboard company has put limitations on their program so you can only modify the nose, tail, max width by 1/2 inch (they recommend a max change of 1/4 inch) and up to 1/16 increase in thickness. You can the view you new design in 3D and compare it to the original. The program is supposed to tweak the other specs to maintain the integrity of the original design.

It would be cool if you could get your favourite waveboard in that slightly smaller or bigger volume or even a freestyle board customized to your own specs.

On the down side I think that there is already so much choice of high quality boards out there already and its just adding complexity to an already difficult decision, there are already well respected shapers that can make what ever shape you want.

However offering greater customization and involvement of the board buyer is definitely going to appeal to some people.

If I was to customise a waveboard I would probably just take a little bit of thickness out of my current board and have basically the same board with a big custom sticker on it to add to the coolness value.

Me at the beach " yea its basically my design, I couldn't find a production board that suited my radical style"

CARBON ART!

What ever you want is no trouble at all to them.
I am fortunate enough to have 2 boards from them, scaled down replicas of adult boards with customized graphics, footstrap and mast track positions. The construction is far lighter than
even pro edition boards as I won't exert the forces that an adult would. My small board weighs 3.2kg and the larger one fully rigged with my largest sail is 9.3kg .

And to top it off, they are cheaper than production boards!

and they are the fastest boards in the world !!!

Thanks mister Haircut! I try to keep fit but do you like the board?

Just a tip - you shouldn't drink and smoke (it stunts your growth)...

Hi Al,

Mate this stuff can be done really well if you have a respected shaper. Recently contacted mine, he had specs of last board built, I changed this, that and bang another on its way. Im sure you are aware of this but custom shapers need more of a plug.
Custom the way to go....
