Hey everyone,

this is an amazing vid taken by a kiter that was just on Lord Howe.

It gives a fantastic idea of what it is like to sail on the lagoon.

If anybody is interested in doing some sailing/kiting there,

this is possibly one of the

best representations of what it is actually like.

The vid is on Jack Shick's site who is an

islander/fisherman/kitesurfer/waterman/photographer.

Check it.

Looks like nice clean water, reef and awsome landscape.Nice wind too.
Do you have any footage of wave riding on the island???
or is it all just bump and jump onshore flatwater?????

Love the crystal clean postcard water and rugged coast line.

There is some great wave riding on the reef when conditions are right, in the DVD you get a quick glimpse of Matt on a wave. He needed to be more out the back but as he was a tourist here he wasn't real sure where to go for waves. A little local knowledge goes a long way. I don't have any footage of wave riding but will try to get some up when it happens next (I always want to be out there not taking pictures) Cheers Jack.

Lordhowe looks abit of a harsh enviroment for sailing similar to Tasmania perhaps.
I thinks it must be just me getting on in the years and enjoying the easy sail. I would enjoy the hiking then the sailing there. The older I get the better I was.

Looks great. How deep is the water when he is sailing over the reef? I hope you'll have a 3m sail for me when I get there! I went out on Wed in 25 - 35kts & a 3.3m is just right in about 35kts..3.8m is miles too big!

Sue, you will love Lord Howe.
Spent 6 days there 18 months ago. Cost me a bundle for the wife and myself, but best thing I have ever done.
Only down side, I didn't find out till the day I was leaving that there were windsurfers on the island and that Tim had windsurfers for hire. Would have made the holiday perfect, but that will have to wait till next time when I win Lotto, then I will be staying for 6 months.
By the way don't hire a bike named Paul. My wife hated it, him.
Problem was she is vertically challenged and didn't really have a choice.
Mind you if you want shopping centres, mobile phones, cars etc, don't go. But somehow I have the impression that's not you.
Never been to all those other windsurfing Mecca's, but now I've been spoilt I'm not inclined.
I have added my amateur attempt at a panorama just to tempt you.

Wow love the photo! Bummer I feel like I should take my easel so I can paint the view but I think I'd be well and truly into excess luggage!I want quite a few windy days and a few nice sunny days.I'd like to go up Mt Gower but I'm scared of heights and the trail looks pretty exposed at the top. Still I got up onto the castle at the Buddawangs National park.. even if it was after the 3rd trip/attempt..

Forgot to mention, if weather permits, that is the seas arnt too rough make sure you take the round island cruise. The view of Mount Gower from the sea is just unbelievable. Looks like it goes up forever.
Didnt get to do the trip to the top of Mount Gower. Did the right thing and stayed with my darling, but next time, rain hail or shine I'm going up. Young couple we met went up with their kids and sent me some great pictures of the view.
Again I've added one to tempt you.

Go on, send your painting stuff via Auspost and paint some landscapes.

Mt Gower is only high when you are looking at it from the beach. I am sure it is much smaller when you are on it

I know a few of the people I went on the LHI trip with did the walk up Mt Gower. Did anyone fall off it?
