Sounds like some areas esp N NSW + Qld have copped a deluge.. has there been any sailable wind with it?
The season has been up and down. A stroke of luck in that the holiday week co-incided with the best winds of summer. Overall its about 10 times better than last summer.
Best so far for my wife I managed to get heaps done around the house this season the list is almost complete
this means im all free for next season hope itsa cracker.
Sailed almost everyday, but I'm on formula gear...That said it has been mostly windy in my opinion i.e 15knots plus...
Northern Beaches, Sydney
Probably the worst season for a long time.
Northern Beaches stopped getting reasonable NE's years ago, but the Southerlies were still reasonably consistent (Long Reef - main beach and Makaha).
This season, even the Southerlies are pretty ordinary.
Unless, of course, you kiteboard!
Nov & Dec in Mandurah WA have been sensational 20 sessions in Dec, with 3 or 4 deliberate rest says January to my relief has been nothing that I would want to sail, giving the body a rest, but just starting to get twitchy
What is this wind you speak of ?
I've jagged a very few good days, but I've been away working a lot too. That said, I follow the charts, and there have been very few days that it blew that I missed. I think there has been about 1-2 good days the whole time I've been up here in Mt Isa.
Just following conversations, I get the impression that you guys have had a lot of wind, and certainly had a good run of southerly busters last autumn, that promised much up here at the Goldy, and delivered very little.
As I said, I've been in remote areas without water or gear a lot, but I don't think I've missed much.
Bris seems to get more, but Currumbin hasn't had much, I don't think. I jagged a brilliant northerly in mid-December, and I think that was the only one there has been.
Not complaining. I'm getting a consolation prize of a long holiday and a big ski trip in a few weeks.
a week or two back we had 8 days on trot of 15/25 knots.
since then, short of a good blow on new years day it has been crap.
last summer we had a couple of 30 knot days, 25 is strongest on river so far.
winter in SEQ was very bad indeed.
that got backed up with one of the worst springs anyone can remember.
since december it's been better as we've had 15 knots 3-4 days a week with a few 25 knot days thrown in.
things are looking up though. the upcoming week reminds me of the 90's where we would get pumping easterlies for weeks on end. back when caloundra was the speed spot in qld.
puts a tingle in the loins. matches my helmet too!
crap for me too - Just havn't been able to get out, The wind has never coincided on the rare occasion I've had time.
Personally I've written this season off and only really have next season to look forward to
Not as good as normal.
Only getting 2-4 days a week over 18 knots instead of the usual 4-6 days.
New Years Day was a once a season epic
So it's been great compared to the Eastern States.
