hahaha my fault! ignore me, I'm just hunting for red thumbs from the pryde-hards and taking overreaction to its logical conclusion..

As Ian said, somebody else will pick the batten. Distributers change all the time even in large markets like the UK.. Cancel the tunnel.

P.s anyone seen the girly colours Gaypryde are bringin out in 2012? thats what you get when a company is owned and run by a Japanese accountancy firm.. write stuff for wadicle action.. Anyone seen the 2012 EZZYs? me neither, they are still trying to sell the last of the 1992 batch..,.

Although not a german, I'm a little pedantic about cars.
Not all of the pics show communism related Eastern Germany Trabants. The first pic shows a Lloyd 600 built in Bremen, Western Germany, and the last pic, added later by Al Planet shows a VW 411.

For me Starboard and Severne are australien brands, and it really would be a pity if you had no importer for them. Just my 2cents.

Who cares?

While you're pushing water with your JP Superlightwind and 8 metre NP, have you noticed that little red blur buzzing past on a Starboard 70 litre with a 3.6 metre Severne sail?

After being a "Volvo driver" for the last 10 years, I've seen the light and have just bought a Severne too. It's given me a whole new lease on life and I think these photos might give a clue on why Severne sails are best. Can Mr Neil Pryde do this? Ben Severne can!

I know people who can do backloops, goiters and off the lips - yet I doubt very much they could design, manufacture and export quality windsurfing products! It's a big call saying Severne are the best! Best at what?

Wouldn't it be great if we could have a conversation about the state of the windsurfing industry in Australia, what Auswinds (who have been very supportive of a lot of windsurfing events in the country so in some ways deserve some thanks!) decision means to us all and who may take over, rather than going down the age old band bashing route?

And yes, I know I'll be red thumbed so bring it on

Crashman - very good points. No brand bashing required but since it has been started anyway .......

... it is worth noting that NP started from yacht sails whereas Severne started from a bloody good sailor / enthusiast making his own stuff, and he has a big market share now. I don't ever recall seeing pics of Mr Pryde cutting sick in waves or flat out on slalom gear. NP = Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus. Severne = really good unsigned indie band.

Severne don't need flashy internet video clips with doof doof music and psychedelic colours and statements about "the feeling it give you like ripping of perfect waters" spoken by some arrogant 18 y/o sponsored dude with weird hair and no command of English.... like NP seem to do every year ad nauseum

(BTW I use NP sails not Severne so the above rant can be considered quasi-balanced )

That'd be like asking if anyone on the east coast has seen the latest Tushingham sails (apologies to WA sailors and 2nd wind).

Ezzy's seem to be more common in the US, and given that there is one distributer/importer here, there isn't much exposure. They are also cheaper in the US... hint hint...

I am not that great a sailor so I wouldn't notice any difference, and not one for changing sails every week, so Infinities seem to work for me. (Anyone got a 6.5m spare?)

I appreciate your correction and I have no excuses as a mate used to own a VW fastback (with a motor that sounded like an old aeroplane) and we did many trips to the beach in that car.

Ha Ha Ezzy sailors are like Volvo drivers, stay clear!
Pryde sailors are like Mazda convertible drivers, look at me look at me!
Severne are like ? Drivers

I wonder which type of driver I'd be categorised as being...about 4 diff brands, all reliable, mostly bought second hand & have duct tape holding them together...Toyota Troopy?

Hilux

Coincidence - that's what I'm actually driving! Haha.

All the other brands are now in Buying groups or retailer importers ie NP/JP, Gaastra/Tabou, North/Fanatic I think that is the way for Starboard also!

Can you say "One Design" and fleets (plural) in the same sentence?

Lotofwind has a sock puppet in windsufering.. He created Windsufering to portray a negative oldfart windsufer who especially hates kitesurfers and cashed up bogans (himself?).. Lotofwind has cut back on the blatant trolling, and orchestrated elaborate conversations with himself (windsufering)to boost his rep..

He outed himself deep into a thread where I was annoying everyone so much most people had already tuned out.. He deleted the evidence..
