cheers moz! it was wild.
big thanks to everyone for turning up and joining in today. that was a massive xmas party. the wind howled reaching 40knots at times. when i got there at 10am the wind meter was reading 37 knots and the sand in the playgrounds was blowing horizontal.
we had a huge turn out. i have never seen so many windsurfers together in one spot in years if ever in qld. it was impossible to count everyone due to numbers.
some just joined in the bbq antics due to lack of appropriate gear while others reached for the smallest sails they owned and rigged wondering what would happen on the water.
the conditions were challenging. at 96kg i was being lifted off the water while sailing a 4.7m and 70lt wave board. most were on 4.2m sails and even a 3m was burning back and forth. some of the tricks were awesome too. huge chop hops, massive forward loops and catapults so fast the eye couldn't catch up. [}:)]
also a big thanks to all of the sponsors. kernow garden care for the bbq and drinks, windsurfingsales for the gun boom and loft quiver bag, caloundra wind and surf for the vids, hats, repair kit, and tie down straps and starboard for the kids rig from santa.
plus also surfconnect, boardcrazy, sunshine coast sailboards, surf FX, ozwindsurf, seabreeze, severne and the sponsors mentioned above for chipping in the videos and stickers for the members packs.
i'll be adding a review in the next few days and posting some photos of the event here as well.
p.s. the onions got blown off the hot plate it was that windy.
happy new year!
gestalt.
had fun, and met some great people. ended up leaving a little early to get some other stuff done, seeing as it was a little bit too windy for the kit i have
hi guys, this image shows pretty well just how windy it was. this is sean on a 6m when the rest of us were struggling with 4.7m or smaller.
i love the smoke coming off the wake. cheers haggar for all the pics.
Sounds like a great meet!!! and all had one hell of a good time I'm just gonna have to give away work !!!!

Just to confirm. That was the most lit I've ever been on slalom kit~!
Will have to work on my ballistic conditions gybing technique if I ever make it to the slalom on Pozo...lol.
Great day. Justin, you do a great job as always. Good to see people hung around late in the day despite the rain/wind to have a chat over a sausage.
Didn't make it out today to try if anyone had a run on the speedbank when the tide was low?
happy new year to you to Lfish.
a few photos of the meet,
with all of this wind around lately i have been sailing everyday and haven't had time yet to write the review of the meet. should get it done in the next few days as the forecast is for calming winds.
