thanks Flipper for bringing back memory of sitting on north shore watching "Biggest Wednesday" Jan 28 1998. unfold in person... most memorable day of my life. Will never forget seeing real "50 foot waves". still sends shivers up my spine.
was in right place at right time. would post images but being prior to digital photos wouldn't do it justice.
For those that know the north shore well the road was being covered by the wave run up the beach. Ahhhh...long memories.
Planning sailing trip to Hawaii next year... hope like hell don't get any days like that :(

I`m on the count down now to Maui only a couple of weeks to go and getting excited especially after watching that.
h20 a couple of years ago we checked how high the North Shore Road cliff face was, only a guess (20 -50 feet) and chatted with locals; telling us how the monster waves actually blow across the road and the wind helps the spray send it further up the Mt. slopes. Tried to imagine it (wondered if he was pulling my leg a bit) but after this I`m a believer
That must have been very a sureal/hummbling experience for you.
I think I like watching Victor in onshore slop more than I like watching the rest in cross-off perfection. He makes so much out of nothing.
