From the land not water, most likely from the top of dune/beach or carpark..
distance of at least 200meters i reckon.
Have no idea about photographry....

Get the biggest zoom you can afford, and a tripod :)

Thanx Heaps birdseye,
Decided on a Cannon EOS 500D with 18 -55mm f3.5-5.6 IS, 55 -250mm f4 -5.6 IS, and 70-200mm f/4L. Lenses..

Not sure what that all means and how to work it all just yet. but iam sure i'll have fun figuring it out...

Thanx again guys..

On the 500d sensor you probably wont notice a huge difference in the optices on the 55-250 and the 70-200, but you will have a huge cross over in focal length which means you will probably use one of them very rarely. I assume you are going for a twin lens kit to get ther mix you have listed, you might be better off saving a few more $$$ and getting a 100-400 to round out the package.

^ agree with aus301 about the crossover. seems pointless to me also.

but i have to say. i think you will notice a big difference with the optics aspecially the sharpness and colour.

i have a mate that does climbing photography and bought the 450 body with the 18-55 and 55-250.....

long story short when he upgraded to better lenses including L lenses the difference was noticable.

keep the 70-200 it's a great lens.

Yeah the girlfriend stuffed up when ordering camera. got a twin lens kit deal when we should of only got the 18 - 55 and bought the 70 - 200 seperatly. It's ok tho.
No worries..

Hey Guys. I procrastinated for ages about a camera for windsurfing photos and after speaking to a pro was advised to get one of the new waterproof cameras,Olympus or Panasonic. He said they had 5 Times zoom, took good quality photos and video, both above and below water, not affected by sand, and great value.Sail out and take your photos up close.
He said to get good photos at high zoom with a moving target you need a really good lens that would cost more than the camera.
Ended up buying a Panasonic FZ35 with 18 times zoom cheap and hope to get a year or more before sand takes its toll. Waterproof next time.
