i think dick smith do a real cheapy for under a hunge complete with housing but from memory is only low res 640x480.
i use a ixus 60 in the proper (cannon) housing which cost about $280,great housing but its worth as much as a camera these days and if you want to upgrade the camera you generally need to buy a new housing as well.does have a pretty good video capture of 640x480 @ 30fps continuous to a gig though.....

help help my house is on fire.

no worries, after the deregulation you no longer have to pay for government firefighters with your taxes.

$35 cheaper on ebay and they get there 20 minutes sooner.

I was thinking the MJU 795SW might be a better option, 10M waterproof, but whatever greenleader FU

I got the 770sw which is last years model now.
7.1mp, 10m waterproof, 1.5m shockproof, 100kg crushproof.
It takes some really good photos and is just as simple as point and shoot which is perfect for dummies like me.
I will upload some photos Ive taken with it

i have an olympus 720sw & have taken it a couple of metres under water, it still works fine. Your meant to get the seals replaced every year or so in the camera & rinse it with fresh water after taking it in salt

I tried finding someone who would replace the seals but no local camera shop would do it and Im not sending it away for months on end. So I went to Bunnings and got some Super Lube. Synthetic-based oil which is ideal for fishing and marine, and I just wipe a tiny bit after every water session it gets. And I also wash it in fresh water after every time I take it in the ocean/pool etc

Most of the photos I have uploaded in the photo section were taken with my Olympus 770

Olympus 790 sw is $328 at Dick Smiths but you can pick up the Optio for around $240 I think making it better value. The optio is a tad lighter (for the 795sw but the same for the 790sw) as well so I reckon you would go the Optio unless the shockproofing is a big issue and you need premium products.
If you wait the new models are out soon for Olympus.

Get the 770SW but make sure you choose the one with 10m submersible. It's awesome, as is the video you can do with it! I took it out the other day, sat on my board and a mate gybed round me. As soon as he saw the video he knew why he wasn't making many gybes!

Picture quality is also very good.

Dropped my 770sw from a height of about 2ft. Dented a lifted part of the casing. Anti-shake is also a pain in the arse having to put it on every time you turn the camera on. Olympus photos are no where near as good quality as my Cannon Ixus which I use in a housing down to about 30m when diving. Cant believe everything they say about the toughness of a camera but it is fairly versatile.

The mju795sw has now been superseded by a new model the mju1030sw.
It is 10megapixel camera, waterproof to 10m and the now drop proof to 2m.
Also has updated electronics, face detection and all that stuff (technical term)

Hey latedropeddy,

Check this out,

http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/product.asp?cid=8&scid=107&pid=709

Fits on a helmet, or top of the mast or end of the boom,,,etc
Oh, and it's cheaper than any normal waterproof digital Camera. And is bulletproof!

If you want one for free? Take some scuba gear out at melville waters near the wooden jibe post. Mine should still be down there at the bottom. It fell of the clamp I had on top of my mast. Still,,,, had a couple of good months use before I accidentally ditched it in the swan.
