my harness fell apart last wednesday because of faulty stitching,i noticed a cut in the foam where the machine had run over the one spot to many times, there for cutting the foam underneath, ive had this harness for years and ive had trouble with the stitching before (cheep chinese thread) the stuff i use is heeps stronger and won't have to worry about it falling apart for a few years

I am mortified that a harness that high quality and so new is already falling apart on you. who'd have thunk it.

Surely the warranty would cover that sort of repair.

(FYI - I use fishing line to repair mine, then its not the thread that breaks but everything else that wears away)

Hey - I just realised - how come the same harness can fit you for that long - do you have some sort of eating disorder ?

yer just because you have a machine doest meen you can sow,i,m planning on setting up a business on basic sewing skills ,probable be about a 3 week coarse,(comes with a deploma) that should give me enough cash to get a new harness,if anyone is interested send a PM
if you have your own machine bring it along it allways more fun on your own gear

Wise words! Who would have thought a harness that old would begin to break?

your rite krusty mabe be i should get one of those Liquid Force Luxury harness?, you know its not the harness its fine, all the plastic clips ect are fine, its the cheep chineese thread they use,the same day i broke another harness it had a plastic buckle and it broke, this harness has a good tough stainless steel buckle and i should get a few more years out of it

i've got an oldie like yours keef the grey one at least it has battens for back support but i think yours is a back breaker sorry to say try at least the the generic ones they're a lot more comfy and doesn't give you hip and thigh rash

I'd take it straight back to the shop and get a refund!

...except they probably went out of business in the early '90s...

There is some good old gear there...the harnesses are still in use,the one on the left is late eighties.I purchased a dakine a couple of years ago to try and replace it and only used the dk twice before I stitched the webbing back together on the old gaastra.
By the way the board is a Jim French mid eighties long board that probably has enough carbon fibre in it to build half a boeing...I'll have to get the GPS onto it some day

There is something wrong with my harness ......

....... it no longer fits my gut after a winter of indulgence

unfortunately, no amount of restitching will resolve the problem ... unless maybe stomach banding counts as stitching

I think I can see a good reason for planned obsolescence in windsurfing gear.

hey goo screw that harness looks like the same vintage as mine i think gaastra must have had a faulty batch that year
i remember the jf's i'm sure they were one of the break through boards to use carbon epoxy if i remember rite they were about 14kg's and quick

Keef, love the board, man!

My question is, why stop at 16 footstraps??

Why not put some around the front so you can shuffle from strap to strap while you're tacking?
