So is it worth the asking price? Heard it was only 38mins long.

well to be honest i was a little blown away when i got to the 35 minute mark and the credit started. i was thinking wtf!

then i went into the additional menus and discovered a treasure trove of extra stuff.

there are interviews, a series a 10 minute movies, a freestyle tricks section, wave tricks section and some other stuff i havent watched as yet. so all up there is a lot of video.

i am going to watch it again over the weekend before forming any opinions.

initially though, i really like the music and the footage in the main movie is very very good. the movie is basically a freestyle version of the windsurfing movie and some of the tricks are very impressive.

there is also some candid stuff aswell. although only a few seconds long AP and crew sailing down sand dunes and into the water was pretty funny stuff.

i'll give a more accurate update once i've seen it again but at this stage i think it's worth it if you don't mind flicking through menus for the extra stuff.

Just watched the trailer, looks awesome, I like the 3d effect of the camera panning around the sailor. Bit dissappointed to here it isn't even an hour though.

My copy arrived today. Great windsurfing, great movie. Like Gestalt said above, it's kind of like The Windsurfing Movie - but without the cheddar - only I think a good deal better (the sailing seems to me be at a much higher level) and with a larger slice given to Freestyle.

Glad I bought it - now all I want to do is go out right now and pretend I'm Gollito. How's one meant to get to sleep under those circumstances? Will have to settle for dreams of triple flakas into double forward push shaka diablos...

nice on hamish, agree it's better than the windsurfing movie.

well i watched it again tonight and expect i'll watch it again and again and again!

2nd time round and i managed to keep up with the action better. there is a lot going on. the camera work is excellent, probably best i've seen in a windsurfing movie. there are angles that show things from a completely different perspective and the matrix effects are used at the right times and not over done. jumps under/beside and around the helicopters look wicked. i also like that the composition of shots was clearly thought out in detail.

the soundtrack is right up my alley, gotta love indy music and it goes well with the action. sometimes the music/footage drifts into mini music video territory which i also loved.

there are some light hearted moments in there also. not sure if it was intentional but there seems to be a apocalypse now reference at the start of the movie. on that note, the helicopter work throughout is great.

the gollito strip is another light hearted moment as well as the guys on the rocks at what i think was pozo.

the other thing that stands out to me is the human touch the movie achieves. to me this sets it apart from anything previous.

the action is full on. the moves, especially the jumps are big and the freestyle is mind blowing.

i'm very happy i bought it. thumbs up from me.

Andre,
The first video trailer was so exciting! Whoo hoo!

The second one hardly has any windsurfing.

The first one is HEAPS better.
That's the one which makes me want to buy the DVD.

hey andre,

i have an idea for a new windsurfing movie and i figure that you're the man to talk to as you've been involved with nearly every movie made in the last 10 years.

ok,.... the pitch!

windrider fiji the movie movie

we take 10 male windsurfers and dump them on an island with Cagla Kubat and jennifer hawkins.

they have no gear or food.

on the other side of the island is a reef containing broken boats/parts and equipement.

the windsurfers must travel across the island and scavenge parts to build their own windsurfers and rigs. in the middle of the island are the hostile kiters that always try to snake the windsurfers.

once completing the built gear the windsurfers must then travel back through the middle of the island to a reef break at the main camp where they must sail their gear and perform manoeuvres each day.

each night, all contestants must attend the "tribal council" made up of Jim drake, robby naish and jason polakow. at tribal council the days performances will be judged and the loosing contestant evicted. after tribal council a "party" will be had where contestants can win immunity by winning the heart of either Cagla or Jennifer.

now for the clever bit.......and almost a show within a show.

the first 6 weeks of the movie will consist of the judges travelling around the world interviewing and filming local sailors vying to be in the script.

Also i'd be available for any consultancy work on set.

Justin, they still don't have any food...

Great idea though.
Love the hostile kiters bit, the tribal council judges, and having to sail their "homemade" windsurfers!

What?! You left out pole dancing, oh and lap dancing, every kind of dancing in fact.
Can you make it a musical?

^ nope they have to scavenge for food. (completely original idea )

The Four Dimensions Premiere

Has the time come?

The time has truly come with the premiere viewing of Andre Paskowski's latest DVD labelled Four Dimensions at the Kinowelt theatre in Westerland, Sylt. The 38-minute movie lives up to its title with never before seen footage and innovative camera angles... the windsurfing on this DVD seems out of this world. Swedish video editor and director Peter Svensson put together a fine mix of the craziest windsurfing action, striking scenery, and humour.

A well mixed, world-class soundtrack provides the perfect backdrop for the world's best new-school sailors as they travel to locations that have never been shot in this way before. Victor Fernandez flies high over Pozo, Gran Canaria; Gollito Estredo stomps newly invented power freestyle moves in Egypt and Fuerteventura while Marcilio Browne takes modern wave riding to a whole new level in Cape Verde and Maui. The film's producer Andre Paskowski also throws down some moves while exploring newly flooded lagoons in Brazil with Gollito.

This video gives a fresh perspective on the possibilities of windsurfing today and leaves you with the urge to do nothing else but hit your local sailing spot and shred with your buddies. - Phil Soltysiak

andre - if you read this stuff, i reckon the vids you've been involved with have been tops and me n poor relative's brother want ....
