There's a low going to form off the east coast so I don't think lack of wind will be an issue..Maybe I should start eating to put on some weight..
Could be 35kts +..
Great! We'll have to wait and see as they are predicting all kinds of directions etc at this time.
I want to learn how to gybe overpowered in chop but 25kts - 30kts will be enough for me to max out..
God knows what it's going to do.. Some forecasts say sunny with light winds others gale force and rain....Sometimes I think life would be easier without the internet to pore over and raise expectations. You'd just take what came...
Whatever.. It's going to be great to be able to talk sailboarding without the other persons eyes glazing over..
Some pics.
We had a mixed bag. Some of us got down there on Monday and sailed Sanctuary in a NNE bit gusty 10 - 20kts with rain.
The first day of the clinic the forecast was for heavy rain and winds going 360 degrees + gale force....luckily they only went SW - S and the rain eased. They started 35kts + gusting more and gradually died throughout the day.
I made a comment ( tongue in cheek) about how he must be loving our weather..forgetting he was from England so it's probably normal for him!
Guy wanted us to get as much sailing as possible while we had wind so he'd give us some tips then send us out for 15 - 20mins to practise them then more tips.He videod many of us and gave critique the next day.
The next day was very light so was spent doing dry land practise.
Very full on heaps info I think most people were pretty buggered by the end of each day.I know I was!
We had maybe 15mins break for lunch and he was happy to go to overtime if people wanted. It was difficult for him because it was only a 2 day course so he tried to cram as much into it as possible.
I'm already scheming how I can get to the next one!
Some pics-I didn't get much chance to take photos as it was so go go go.
Lunchtime the first day- the wind was starting to ease
Alex using his longer lines
Alex
Guy demonstrating on my gear. I got him to sign the board later..its' now worth more..
Dry land gybe practise..The neighbours must have thought we were mad..
Guy about to demonstrate upwind stance using a chair to help as there was no wind. He said it was easier hanging from the harness.
Brilliant! I'm glad I took notes. He gave us some lightwind waterstart tips and I wrote down some notes after but it was the end of the day & my brain was a bit fried..
Guy came over and said he was impressed that I'd took notes and I said ' I'm not sure if I got it right though" and he looked .. silence................
Guy - 'Oh we'll be doing that again tomorrow..'
I think we ran out of time ' tomorrow'. I corrected a few things I'd written when I got home..
He certainly doesn't hold back. I've been visualising his gybing technique each night before I go to sleep so it will be interesting to see if that helps.
4 days would be great but I don't know if my neck would survive...
Even if you are a hotshot he can give tips to help..loops , freestyle etc..
One thing that I wished I had done before the course was to buy his DVD or download the Cribb-sheets from his site, so I could practice the moves.
At least in my case, I had another week on the water after the course to practice them, and they seem to be helping.
Do you think he will come back again?? My wife and i would love to do one of his courses but unfortunately didnt work out for us this time
After everyone else left, Sanctuary Point put on a classic Nor' Easterly. Here is some video I took. Everything Guy taught us was fantastically helpful.
Great video! How strong was it 20-25kts?
How many people stayed on?
I was tempted to try & stay another night and get out at Jervis Bay.I still haven't had planing conditions to try tips. Nice downforce at times in the video .
I'm sorry I missed the last night at the Husky Pub but I had a killer headache I had to get rid of so I could drive home the next day.
great video there pete and great to catch up , nice shot of the flat section at 2.31 & 3.00 cya up there next time
