Gestalt said...r]originally i was going to say the guy on the windsurfer as he is looking downwind instead at the "young lady". but then i realised that kiters don't look downwind so i guess he is a windsurfer.

p.s. i don't think you should be calling people bimbos' just because some looks after themselves does not make them an air head.

Haaa this is a good one, I was looking down wind cose the camera dude ask me to stop to check her bum out and look somewhere else, btw Bel is a top chick and a good windsurfer friend and def not a bimbo. Regarding the topic, any drop in at that swell size is dangerous ...probabily more conseguence in the carpark than in the water ....but Im sure they are a bunch of good friends playing chickens.

LOFT WIND ......... you Just dont get it and from all your posts never never never will ........ just stay in the shallow end of the pool.

Do you think the windsurf,,,, thats hit this fire breathing dragon on the nose is super imposed ?????? or somthing.

You want to ride down wind on the shoulder .......your goin to get landed on.

Line up....by...... sail out the back 5 km and get on the back of your own dragon to slaye. avoid at all costs getting into this position. flick out before hand.

^^^^^^I knew if I poked hard enough you would soon show

And you have totally missed the point.
I commented on what was said on here that it is ok for the dancer to purposly take out other water uses if they have right of way.Pretty dumb redneck attitude.

I bet if the pic was a dancer about to get taken out you would be writting letters to the council.

Havent said anywhere that the kiter should be there, dont know where you got that from???????
NO NEED TO GET ALL ANGRY AND SHOUT, chill

And if you took the time to look at all the pics on the site you would see its a set up game of cat and mouse.

So have the rules changed????If someone is downwind of you and they shouldnt be,its ok to take them out????

If you look at the original sequences it looks like the kiters and windsurfers are working together quite nicely.

Awesome to see film of this relatively remote location. The reef around New Caledonia is a long way from the coast and requires chartering a boat to get out to the waves. When I was in New Cal (10 years ago) I asked the local hire guy about wavesailing there but the cost of charter was well beyond my budget.

My impression is that this is a relatively fickle wave so its great to see photos from a day when its really firing.

To all the haters;
Quit trying to stir-up bad blood between poleys and kiters.
You know, the two riders in the pic are most probably mates.
lol.
Hey, no one died, right ?
Anyhow, the kiter looks to be flicking off the wave.
He probably took the wave thinking it would close-out and shut down on his poley friend.
But obviously it wasn't to be.
You do stuff like that in the surf, it's normal.
There's nothing worse than letting a wave go to waste.

I agree waveslave, the poley certainly didn't let the wave go to waste....

Sick vids of New Cal. Sifferlan rips. They should hold a 'Wave Classic' (like Reunion/Fuetre/Morocco comps) there.

ok, all jokes aside,

there is no doubt the windsurfer has right of way. if the kiter was heading out then maybe you could cling to some form of reasoning but there is no dobt the windsurfer is in the pocket and has right of way.

this speaks volumes for why kiters get so much flack from windsurfers. not just in the surf but on flat water also.

nope not at all - he has obviously just over-run the wave from the back and snaked the kiter. no one likes to be snaked.
how else would he be going in that direction. he has not turned off the bottom and smacked the lip.
first on the wave has the wave

ah yes - the kiter is looking over the back of the wave - thats where the windsurfer came from -
if the windsurfer had right of way he would have seen him from his right hand side as looking from his right would have seen him coming down the line and turning off the bottom to smack the lip - not hop over it

now this pic helps the above statements - the kiter is looking over his right shoulder - the windsurfer has smacked the lip
thus i have shown both sides fairly and proven the kiter is a dirty rotten drop in..

PET HATE .................is what where talking about,,,, something particularly disliked.

Like DROPPING IN puting oneself in an area of danger.............. Notice the kiter asking the question will or wont he slop the dragon ...... i hope he goes down and i get this wave of him . Well the kiter got his answer and didnt like it one bit ............Whos hating who.

Lucky the polie bloke didnt throw into a forward and had the skill to drop it down next to the kiter and not right on top ........and or not expode on inpact after slaying the throat of such a beast

.......Believe me lofty if he was really going to take this dood out, he would have throwen his gear or landed square on his head ,or put the nose of his board up under his rib cage and or throw the gear so it wrapped around the med strings to help him turn turn da kite.

What you dont understand is how much commitment is involved to be inside the belly of the beast

If the polie did bail off the top to satisfy your DISIRE TO give way the chances are he would have got caught up in the gear and ,had the breath of the beast pick him up like a tooth pick and spear him into the beasts dungon cave.

IF hwe was then lucky and his gear went over the back the surging dragon would have dragged him close enough to his cave to be smashed by the 3 member of the family.

And the kiter certainly ain't letting it go to waste -

Gently cruising out on the shoulder looking down wave seemingly oblivious to all around.

The photographer is doing more with this wave than the kiter.

Maybe if you are a slave to the wave you always sit out wide and cruise the channel back and forth while a king of the break attacks the frothing lip ??

Not only silly, but stupid as well... wearing a leggie kiting is really not recommended. Ouch!

you need a leggie at a break like that one. by not wearing a legrope not only do you lose your board constantly, you also get in the way of others by body dragging through the impact zone and the lineup trying to find it.

you should wear one when learning, but you shouldn't be anywhere near a break like this if you are a learner.

I don't know why that particular photo is the one that has stirred up so much controversey.... surely this one has much bigger implications!

If a kiteboarder is to land on your shoulder you should definately not blow him

^^^^^bloody poledancers,,,,always in the way,,slowly slogging around bogged down,,,out on there Sunday arvo cruise on the bay yelling "port,,starboard,,PORT,,PORT[:D

So in this pic the dancer shouldnt be there,so by p c simpsons rules,,the kiter can go as hard as he wants and boost, if he takes out the dancer, its the dacers fault cause he shouldnt have been there??????

This is the problem with Kites, They take up so much space. No room for a normal in and out the line. I still think we need a two meter razor blade along the leading edge of the sail...hehehe. Four quick pops and the kite is gone
