cracked the 16 kn mark yesterday on my skateboard / windsurfer rig. complete with duck gybes and all. wind approx 9 kn.
lack of wind is driving new boundaries.
not the fastest run but we were there a few hours. need more people to join in.
ive found it to be a great method of technique tuning, duck gybes etc.
itd be more fun with a couple more guys. jut need a longboard and a hole drilled through it for the mast base.
I was thinking about having a go at this, but I left my car unlocked last night, and some scumbag nicked by long board.
Very annoyed. Weirdly, they didn't nick my little Z, so it's not all bad.
Nah, I'm going away for a couple of weeks to work, and when I get back, I'll have a look around and see what's out there. Lots of options in the longboard dept theses days.
I'm taking the little one with me. The big ones make me lazy anyway.
Where do you go to do it ?
I have a nice big street, but I'm not sure how that would go. Bugger all wind and the wrong direction if it does blow.
I have a huge car park miles and miles long where i live with some nice clean light wind i just have to find a skate board that's my problem
will post a vid for you fellas once i get around to finding a skateboard
and show ya how good this place is for skate sailing
The spot is called the SHED i use to sail at the spot when i was a kid. back then i used a 4.0 wild winds wave sail and a old skateboard in 30 knot northlys.. the wheels use to turn so hot that they would glow, well allmost They were the days when we use to get gales more than 3 times a week in winter i miss those days
Got another story too for ya fellas. i use to windsurf at the front of me dads house and i once was windsurfing down our narrow steet in a gusty wind. all the naviors new me back then as the mad windsurf dude.. anyway was skatesailing down the st at full speed and hit the power lines with my mast that hanged across the road
Looks like great fun, but how does your rig fair when you stack? That asphalt has got to do some damage.
really only do it on days of 5 to 12 kn so we are not exactly screaming along. usually just grab the mast and a few quick steps has it covered.
had a bit of a stack today, planted the rig down hard in about 12 kn breeze. no damage but i wouldnt go using new stuff.
hey you missed a few red thumbs on the earlier posts. you might want to head up there and do them as well. keep it consistent
