me thinks whoever made this video is not really a water person. how is the ocean featureless. bloody offensive idea really
I think the meter maids are a better Gold Coast icon
Dont really understand why it would be a "new windsurfing attraction"?
Could be funny to see someone windsurf over the top of it just as it starts up though
featureless ??
Lets put a hundreds of offshore wind turbines , few oil rigs and sink a cruise ship just in seaway narrow mouth entry.
Build small shipyard on Paradise for bigger ocean liners traffic .
Then replace water fountain with real oil geyser - the highest in the world !!
so you from time to time you can even ignite the thing
that will be real thrill for overseas visitors ...
they will feel cozy here like home ...
we could windsurf out to it.
New feature on the Gold Coast !!
Floating casino !!
disguised as oil rig
or
Oil rig that double as casino ..
Hi Gestalt. I'm an old fart but The Icon Geyser is my project. This jet celebrates the very thing you love, the ocean. Some news for u - many of the guys who build the digital jet and constructed the vid are all young and into a variety of surf sports. They all work on the Goldie and I've given them work and wages in the last few weeks. Love ur havin some fun with it and gotta get my cat one of those hats but with ear holes - Coles or Woollies?
Listen to the opening of the vid, it says that compared to the busyness of the city with cars, highrise, roads etc. etc. the ocean is flat, calm, featureless but not always. The "bloody offensive" hardly necessary. Lotsa workmates in my staffroom all surfers and I support their causes.

Mac, u been reading my mind. My cartoonist already working on some pics but we're using "Innoculation" so no sensorship problems.

Just me agn Mac - its my project and happy u guys are havin fun with it but media manager not happy with copyright issues. Just keep it on the site and I will be back to see what other fun u can have with it. That's why I employed another surfer dude/cartoonist to do some work with the jet.

well the video says, "there is an enormous contrast between the busyness of the city and the vast expanse of the featureless ocean.
if you believe that replicating the busyness and bulk of the city in the ocean is a good thing then more power to you.
Its got nothing to with making lots of money does it??
The ocean is perfect the way it is, let it be.
Mother nature has its own water spouts from the passing whales.
Build your toy in your own swimming pool maybe?
When I first saw this I thought it must have been a joke!!
What the ......
As Lotofwind says, must be money involved.
If we have to go to this extent to have another attraction for the Goldy, I'm very disappointed! We have the mess of highrise right beside the beach, now we plan to stuff up the water side.
I'm totally against it!
Mate - you dont get it do you. If I put the jet into the urban highrise area, it would be lost, un-noticed in the busy highrise but when I put something into the nothing space of ocean, it cant be missed by anyone.
Guys, this is getting crazy. There is no money involved. This is a free gift to the city. Original idea I know but we're not all motivated by dosh. What do you guys think of the impact you have on noise, pollution, danger to yourselves and others of your sport, especially the jet ski guys; fishermen chucking bottles of grog overboard. Of everything we do in the ocean, ships, ket skis (yes) sand pumping to replenish beaches, artificial reefs to create wave breaks that dont work, sand pumping jetties, groins that don't work, desal intakes and on and on. A thousand surfers daily pissing into the ocean, get real, this jet is the least impacting of almost anything we do in the ocean and business will build and support it.
I support you guys but sometimes you're your own worst enemy.
We've screwed up most of our landscape with what we believe is beauty as opposed to actual 'natural beauty' - let's not stop there & screw up the ocean.
Personally, even if it is "a gift" and costs nothing (even if it generates millions) - it still has no place in the natural environment.
+1 against also (sorry Rossco, nothing personal but you can't stop to smell the roses if you're unable to see them).
"what you see as a featureless nothing space i see as natural unspoilt beauty" Hey Gestalt, I think this is my new favourite quote - good work.
oh dear - something else to add to the tackiness of Surfers
Dear Gold Coast - Just because you can doesn't mean you should.......just sayin'
you build that monstrosity and i can guarantee it will (rightly) be sabotaged so many times that it will simply have to be removed after a few months.
Check out the fake comments for it on youtube . I dont think there will be enough people that think this is a good idea for it to happen luckily .
What's your concern - talk to me about it - I'm genuinely interested in your view.
You might also abide by the rules of this site pls.
Regards
Rossco

Simon, what fake comments on u-tube, tell me. Your presence in the broadwater or the sea with a coloured sail will have more impact than this jet.
Lets not deal with the whole jetski issue of noise, danger, accidents, irresponsibility etc. etc. Yes, I know the idiots are a small minority who ruin it for the responsible sports guys.
Explain ur problem, that is precisely why this idea was put out there but I cant deal with issues if u wont tell me what they are or they are just illogical.

ha!! plenty of engine drives on the gold coast. there is a diesel powered lincoln in my shed, no need for power.
but why would you need a welder anyway? an oxy set is all you need. that can be thrown into the back of any ute. not that i would do anything like that, i live way down on the tweed coast.
as to my issue- i think it is ugly, unnecessary, kitsch, tacky, disrespectful, and representative of a contempt for the ocean.
