^^^^^^Âgreed, if it wasnt for the polers inventing kiteing, we wouldnt be here.
Thanks guys.
Its a bit like ANZAC day. Remembering the diggers that made our lifestyle like it is.
We should have a minutes silence(no posting for a minute) in respect to our poledancing generation. Least we forget.

There must be a polka dotted yellow boardy forum somewhere thanking kitesurfers in the same way...

Lest we forget...

Yes, but its thanking the windsurfers for them

I still havent actually seen any pics of a kiter wearing these shorts except the ones drawn on by you guys?????? Pics or its never happend.

Mate, I think you are reading too much into it. We are old men, and don't know how to use computers. How could we draw shorts onto a computer?

looks like a pioneer of the "man bra"

Is that a Cabrinha kite in the background? Must have been a kiter, got tangled up, and decided to give it up for windsurfing?

windsurfing is cool i used to windsurf heaps.
much more you can do with kiting tho and the sick videos from local beaches outweigh vids that coming from windsurfing community.
you gotta show some windsurfing and its lifestyle lads. even old fellas can make flicks

Much more you can do, how so? From my perspective when you compare wave and freestyle windsurfing to the kite equivalent's it's chalk and cheese. The amount of variety (in terms of different moves) in windsurfing wave/FS these days is ridiculous; conversely there's only so many different ways you can spin hanging from a rope. The differentiation being that the difficulty in learning even the basic freestyle windsurfing moves is that high, you don't see them very often 'out in the wild', let alone every random local punter making a video featuring them.

you said it right, you need to be pretty damn good to do any decent tricks in windsurfing. In kiting you can be average and boost 20feet in the air and fly around for several seconds. In windsurfing you cant even travel forward when jumping.
kiting has elements of pretty much all boardsports today- wake, snow, land, skate, surf...

There are kids 6 and 8years of age showing their dads and uncles new tricks. In that age tey would not even be able to carry the mast to the beach.

These are some of the reasons why kiting is gaining popularity and windsurfing loosing pop. However, i believe windsurfing in big waves still kicks as and looks /feels way better than kitesurfing.

I've noticed the sailboard general page is usually half a page before the posts are 24 hours old where the kite page hardly ever has posts older than 24 hrs on page 1.

good indication on the popularity of each sport and a bit of an insight into why the vid attracted the above juvenile comments

I've noticed The Black Eyed Peas are very popular too.
