Hi everybody!
Nice website and forum!
I live in Switzerland and I'm coming to Australia for 5, 6 month from sept 15th 2013 to march 2014.
I just want to windsurf all the time...
I just began to check the spots around Australia and it looks better on the west coast at this year period for wave sailing.
I'm not a professional, but I'm ok in the waves...
Is it easy to buy a car for living??
Is the east cost nice also for windsurfing?
What are the nice places to see?
Thank you very much for your answers!!
See you soon!
Matthieu
Agree with hardie.
If you have that long and don't care where you go, stay in Gero and maybe go elsewhere for week long trips if the wind does not happen in Gero.
Do you need a 92L waveboard and 109L freestyle board when you arrive?
Hola!
Thank you for the advice!
I was thinking about flying with a part of my gear (a wave board and 2 or 3 sails). But I keep your profile if I need something when I'm there!
Thank's again.
Matthieu
Ive travelled to the west coast, and most of the south coast and now live on the east coast.
You'll be surprised at how good our whole coast line is.
Get a van, fill it with gear, beer and a bed and follow the wind and waves.
Haircut, I'm only guessing here, but it may have something to do with their lakes being fed by glaciers and snow melt. They're so b#$%Y cold, it quickly enables the ability to stay on the board.
AHAH!!
Thanks everybody
I begin to see better how good are Australia costs for sailing
Continue please to send me good info!!!
see you on the water!
Matt
I don't like cold water!!!
That's why I use to sail in france, spain and more...
, it's not far, Europe is so small compare to Australia!
But if you like clichés... It's maybe the cheese or chocolate!!!
I'll send swiss chocolate to the one who give me the best advice on the better spots to visit, the accommodations ...
Good chocolate with milk and nuts!!! ;)
Take care
Matt
Check out this post. If you have the time you may like to ride with some of the nutters down in Tassie. Don't miss page 2, most of the photos are there.

That time of the year you should get good winds down here.
Forget Tassie and the cold water
Check these two threads out for some ideas.
Just be prepared to clock up some miles in the car.

Also Windsurfing Perth has a good location guide.http://www.windsurfingperth.com.au/index.php/guides/travel/44-locations
Maaate you dont want to be spending your time with a bunch of cashed up bogans and euro tourists at Coros when you could be sailing the Southern ocean off the west coast of Tassi all by yourself.
Looks awsome everywhere!!
Thanks everybody!
I will ride around all the coast of Australia for sure, staying in the nice places where good people are and sun, and wind, and waves, and beers...
I'm so eager to be there!
See you
matt
Thank you Ben!
Looks good also around sydney.
I'll see! 5 months from Cairns to Geralton by the South might be possible...
Thanks everybody, a lot of good ideas!!!
See you on the water!
Matthieu

I think I will begin my trip flying to Sydney and move to the North first, Then I'll see! A last question:
How long does it take to drive from Brisbane to Geraldton. Would it be possible in a couple of months with spots on the South coast?
Thanks again.
Matt
It is probably better to start in WA and go the other way. Also need to think about stingers in north qld.
The other guys might have more thoughts
