G'day all,

With the first Northerly heading our way I did a sighting run down to my favorite cess pit to check the water depth for the foolhardy souls who wish to frequent this foul smelling land of disappointment.

As suspected with the dry summer we've had the water level is lower than I've ever seen it, the water starts well out into the mud and I would guess that a 30cm fin will be doing a lot of ploughing.

Last year after a dry summer we got 70mm over one night which made the area sailable. this year the level is even lower.

Keep an eye on Harvey and Bunbury rainfall, I would suggest that there needs at least 100mm of rain before attempting it

hahaha and you thought there was going to be a NWer WA is a state of desperation when it comes to speed sailing... I'm so hanging out for a winter front. Sadly I will be a few days late for Friday's epic. Make the most of it kids.

My pick would be Woodies if you have the courage to run the gauntlet through the strings. If only they learned to look before crossing the road.

G'day All

With the nice strong looking Northerlies forecast one can assume the more masochistic of you will be contemplating running your nad's up and down the cheese grater.

Mr Boat asked if I could do a survey which I did today on the way back from Colie (Say "thanks you Elmo for saving me wasting my time")

I can report that the water is still EXTREMELY low, again I've never seen it this low, last year we at this time we were still on the shale when we were in the water then dropped the board with fin sticking into the mud, this time there is almost 2m of mud to get to the water.

The first Image is of the bottom post with how far it is from the water, apologies, for the quality as it was raining and I had water on my phone lense. The water is a good 1-1/2m away from the post.

This next photo is looking from the post west to east, the shale is not even in the water

This next shot is the one of concern, this is the sand bar about 10m east of the posts, you'd be plowing with a 6" (15cm) fin

So sorry to the crew who were getting little stiffies at the prospect of testicular abuse, but unless the Harvey - Bunbury region gets a good +100mm of rain Cheesies will remain more salt than lake.

Bunbury has had 39mm but Harvey has only had 17mm which considering what I had to drive through doesn't seem like much

Water won't improve it, dilute it maybe, but improve it, no

and why is this place called cheese graters?

where exactly is it?

and why is it popular if it is extra salty and has stinky mud?

A frustrating location, either go's right off, or It can be as much fun as sliding down a cheese grater with your Mills and Wares exposed[}:)]
