Hi All.

Hoping some current users of Delta Fins (esp Maui Ultra Fins) can guide my choice.

They seem the perfect solution for Lake Illawarra weed flats. I'm just trying to pick the optimal size.

I'd like it to be usable with primarily a Fanatic Falcon 80l and either 5.8 or 6.6 sails. If it weren't too much of a trade-off, I'd also like it to work with a Fanatic Falcon 104l and the same two sails.

Am I asking too much of one fin?

I'm thinking, according to MUF's website, that their 20cm slalom sits reasonable well in the middle of my proposed board and sail range, but would be interested in the views and experience of others already using these fins.

Thanks...Eckas.

eckas, take a trip down to sanctuary point and have a chat too arky&alex halank they will stick you on the rite track as far ar the kids riggs go, i just reboxed a tuttle fin for young elli 12cm tuttle (6 years old) here's some inspirational vids

elli hasn't started sailing this year and would love to have some other kids learning,
mark the upside is you mite have to jump ship and back to your old team (act gustbusters) alex is currently the under 11's worlds slalom/freestyle champ , hes now had a birthday , his dad can clarify that one and maybe still world champ
sanctuary pt is also one of the best and safest places to sail in nsw, Aneble "TEX" your team memeber travels from the gong, and formula/nova makes a special trip from sydney
i just did a post in the nsw section and most of the times are sanctury pt with a 35 in the southerly last sunday check it out if you want to ask alex any he is on this site (aus2001) send him a PM

Hi Eckas, I think the 20cm slalom fin would be about right for an 80 - 104 combo. I use a 17cm delta slalom fin on a 50cm speed board with 5.0 and 5.8 sails.

You really don't need much fin at Illawarra if you stay in the shallows. If you're going to venture out into the chop, the MUF deltas won't be any good.

Talk to Bushfire next time you see him too, he knows the MUF delta slaloms really well.

Eckas, you can also email Olaf at MUF directly, via the link on his website. He's very friendly and fast to respond. Even if you think you know what you want, he will still ask you for details of boards/sails/weight/conditions so that he can be sure you are getting the right fin.

I was certain that I wanted 36 and 40cm slalom fins for my isonic 97 but he recommended going 34 and 38, which ended up being perfect. I guess he knows what works as he's out testing at Kanaha all the time.

I ordered mine Saturday morning and they arrived in the mail from Maui on Tuesday. It has taken me longer to get a parcel from Sydney!

Cheers,
james

I have a 19 speed Delta it is utterley usless in any sort of CHOP, but in the shallow flat water I have found that it works sweet with my 5m & 57w slalom I would go larger than their web recomendation. Strath Windsurfing have a range in stock.

Send a PM to Jacques, SB username - wantmorewind; He's been using MUFs flat out and has been getting really good results.

If my memory is right, from what he's told me, he prefers the slalom over the speed. But as YP1 said, any chop and they're no good. Need really flat water.

from my experiences here on lake george any speed fin will work great in flat water its in the real world on chopy spots that sorts them out.

I'm trying to get my 4yo daughter into windsurfing, just trying to get her to like the water first is the issue. She used to be a water baby but turned into a wuss lately.
