Yesterday I had a display Max Speed that was 4.2 knots faster than my fastest speed in the track file . Anyone know under what circumstances that happens?
I have GT31_FW_V1.2B0912T loaded on the GT-31 and I'm using the Basic RSP from the GPSTC site.
Hi Paddy. I can't say I have seen such a discrepancy before but there are a few possible causes.
Can you save the sceen display max list in the Genie menu to card and send me that file and your .sbn and .sbp files please
To save the genie max speeds, turn the unit on, go to the SPEED menu and push the toggle button in. Two options should appear:
SAVE TO CARD
DEL ALL
select the SAVE TO CARD and press the toggle again.
On your SD card you now should have a file with the extension .SPD
This can be opened in a text editor (Notepad) and will show a list of the Max Speeds for the session, or until it had been last cleared.

Sailquik - thanks for that, did not know you could do that. Alas after boasting that I had just broken my PB to a fellow sailor they requested a try out of the GPS so I started a new file and cleared the max speed. Yoyo has kindly offered to look at the track file - maybe that will shed some light.
It is a spike Pat. Look at the blue track point on the left. Gpsactionreplay and gpsresults show a lot more and are free for 30-60 days.
