If this rain keeps up the premiere Lake George might be ready by next thursday. It's only been about 15 years.

Ian is it actually filling up? I haven't seen any water in it for many many years.....

Yes, it might be more like 20 years. I only sailed in it a couple of times before it dried up. The easterlies that sometimes get as far as Canberra, on summer evenings whenever there's a hint of southerly on the coast, are more frequent and about 5 knots stronger at Lake George. ie. ~ 5.5. maybe 3 or 4 times a week. I remember it being a very steady wind.

Haven't had a look but all this water's got to go somewhere. I don't favour the pipe-connected-to-another-lake theory.

Yep those numbers are true. Awesome PBs for some, but not for me. I didn't even get wet as my 6.2 just would have been too ambitious - especially when Tony Wyn is on a 5.8m. Congrats to all those with PBs - actually almost everyone that sailed got one. As Jacques said "they hand them out as you enter the Lake"!

I'll get out in the morning as the wind moderates a bit to 20-30.

ahhh ... so there are two spots named Lake George, one in NSW (as per Ian's google pic) and the other in SA, the latter being the spot where the big speeds have been acheived the other day. (Beach Port) ... hence the SSE flow would be broad on port.

Would be interested to know where one would sail from on the Canberran Lake George.
Also whether there is any experience on water levels which would be sufficient to sail over the fences or otherwise fence locations to avoid..
I may have to go on an investigative tour on the weekend.
Chris
