Here's a GTC question for you Lea,
"What happened to the Irish?"
Their last post was November last year, that must have been a very cold sail, so they were obviously keen back then.
Didn't they thaw out in spring?
nice write up Lao!
'the most bizarre injury prize'
in reference to 25's accident- always brings a smile (and a slight shiver)
when I think back to that day when I surgically removed that batten
from pd's knee cap...youch!
Not sure about the Irish Decrepit. I think one of their most skilled and celebrated sailors has been concentrating on his longboard sailing and gaining new sponsors all year rather than speed sailing.
There is an article - or rather a link to and article on the German Speed Championships by Anders Bjorkqvist who got his first major win. He posts on here and other forums sometimes and seems a good bloke who made it his goal to achieve well in the speedsurfing world. So congrats to him, have a look at his article.

I forked out for a new camera to get some better pictures for the site - its got a 30x zoom. Not the best pics compared to a few grands worth of DSLR, but not bad.
The latest article was just us playing around at the weekend on the harbour, for those of you wondering what its like where the Portland Pirates sail usually you can see a bit from the pics. I will do a detailed spot guide for it soon.
I have also tried to organise things a bit more so there is a very basic menu at the top, for some reason I cannot get a drop down menu to work correctly but will keep trying.
Also the logo is changed and I am quite pleased with the alteration now. I tried to get a windsurfer with a camper van (in red obviously) in the same pic but they just didnt look good, I think this one looks good. The reason I chose that pic is its a great memory for me when I was recovering from my heart attack, watching the sun set over the atlantic with my fiancee. Hope you enjoy the latest stuff.
I will do a mid month round up soon, if only to gloat that the Portland Pirates are top of the leaderboard (nothing at all to do with me I hasten to add!)
With 2 hurricanes that have blessed us with good winds I thought it best to do a bit of a round up mid month.....hope you enjoy.

I have also been fiddling with the site a bit, I think it looks loads better now and I am getting navigation sorted but still cant get a drop down menu to work.
We have another great weekend of wind coming, but nothing like the tail end of katia....read about it above.
There is a new article, done by Stefano Basso, creator of WingsSails. www.redsurfbus.com/
www.redsurfbus.com/
I contacted him after seeing a few of his creations on facebook. Being a mathematician I really liked his links into nature, using inspiration from the wings of insects. Also having a soft spot for the non-corporate world I wanted to first contact the smaller companies that are producing speed sails. Hope you enjoy it.
And there is a bit about my 1000nautical miles that got into the local paper again, the second article down.
In the next few days I have one per day lined up to publish while I am away, keep checking back. :-D
Good article, Bus.
I had not realised how serious your recent health dramas were. All the very best for the speediest of recoveries.
Well nice to see IRL250 back on the speedsailing front could expect some good times now he has full sponsership from a different board manufacturer god nows what difference that will make? Are we going to see him going into Slalom????
As for the ashes i may not be sailing till November, ankle not good apperantly?
But what do Doctors know? Looking forward to a rematch that will be dominent by the southern hemisphere this time round but who cares bring it on........
Wineman do your stuff!!!!!!!
Couple of new articles up from Pete Davis about Weymouth Speed Week - www.redsurfbus.com/2011/09/weymouth-speed-week-2011-registration.html
And Zara Davis at the European Speed Championships, with a day by day break down of events. www.redsurfbus.com/2011/09/zara-davis-from-uk-leads-womens.html
From all of us Portland Pirates we would like to wish Alastair the best of luck with his new sponsors, and I just hope to sail with/past him on his next visit to Portland Harbour
I have been driving seemingly none stop the past two days and have a nice van full of goodies ready to start some real reviews on. Not the stuff that you read about in the mags, boards and sails used by real down to earth unsponsored sailors over a period of time (weeks-months not hours). And my first impressions are they look lovely......
And for some reason they and me seem to make my van look tiny in this pic!
New article, just a bit of a report from the end of sept - in other words not a lot to report on. Then a round up of the top 10 positions for the year.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been really busy trying to get the card business up and running and have got cards into 4 shops now. If I can get them into 10 shops and each sells 20 cards per month then I can pay my rent........Bit less stressful than teaching maths to unwilling teenagers and means I could sail when I want along with making a fair bit of cash for the charity Windsurfing for Cancer Research.
It would be really nice if some of the other teams could send me a paragraph about where they sail and the characters in the team. The other ones I have got were really good to read and talking to members of the portland pirates they said the same thing - its good to know who we are sailing with even if they are 1000's of miles away.
Good speed and winds
I posted this in the review section, but thought it best to post here as well as some of you may never venture that far
We have started the review process on the Exocet kit now. I will post probably 5 or 6 different reviews as our opinions develop. I want to offer something different in terms of reviewing. Ordinary frequent riders with a mix of ability testing the kit, on its own and against their own that they are used to.....
Hopefully it will give a different perspective on the review process, one that I think is missing.
So here goes with the first part - rigging the kit and first 'out of the box' impressions.

If you have any advice on what I can do better please tell me, cheers, good speeds and winds
The Bus
Couple more articles,
first and foremost I feel honoured and proud to say Erik Loots has invited me to contribute to his established Speedsurfingblog, and he gets at least double the hits per day that mine does. Bit of a write up here

Second one doesnt probably apply to anyone here or does it [}:)]. Its about threading the downhaul correctly when the sail tack pulley is perpendicular.
