Sailing at Trafaga Bay side at Wellington Point can be a challenge most of the time if the winds up around 25kts the chop is knee high.
If the tides high the chop comes at all directions you can sail anywhere but to find flat water is hard we often sail up to the south of the bay but the wind is too light as its sheltered from mangrove trees.
At low tide we sail up the boat channel then bear off after or just before the 1st green channel marker over the reef & hope we have enough depth this is the flattest water then at the end of our speed run we have to point up wind to get enough height for the return trip to avoid hitting the reef which is very shallow either side of the channel at a very low tide we must stay in the channel going out & coming back but once out past the reef you can sail anywhere some fun sailing can be had out there with good waste high rolling swells often good for gybe a dropping down into the troughs on the plan if timed well, the return trip down the boat channel can be good for speed at a very low tide then also across the water in front of the car park passing the jetty.
Area is safe from big fish with teeth there is the odd shark sighting but the kids jetty jump every day so I would say its safe for us.
The day I took this video Odin got a 39kt x 2sc avg peak the rest of the Mob got around 35kts top speeds pretty good with the knee high chop.
Wind was 20 to 25kts from the SE tide was half way in & getting choppy.

Hey Glynn, that point of view looks very similar to that leadlight I made you for your 40th, except there's no crunching wave up front. Catch you at Burrum, - if you slow down a little.

Great vids! I didn't realise the water was so flat down there.

It's much rougher when I sail out there. He must have switched his cam to 'wave filtering'.
