Thats strange could of sworn some hack on his Aussie engineered kit with a broken batten did 48.71 over 500, 
Looks like they rounded up for the article so it reads 48.7 for both Fin' and I, wouldn't that make it 'Only 1 windsurfer' either way?? oh the video timing versus Gps debate

Nice article, but it is a shame that they were a bit selective with their reporting but i guess you carn,t have some "amateurs" with off the shelf gear from some low volume manufactures going faster 
looks like kihei at the end of the second vid. we were thinking about sailing there last month but decided it would be too gusty... nice and flat though compared to the other side. but kanaha was much more fun!
Yikes really sorry Craig, my apologies - no offence intended. I edited the article so was my fault. Wasn't thinking and you're right - I should've been more accurate and left out the swingeing statement about 'only 2 riders have ever...' and differentiated between the two forms of measurement. My excuse? Was particularly windy during last mag deadline week - it always is and I joke about going weekly now as it seems to blow like clockwork when it's due out. No agenda on the gear either. Not enough time or clever enough to balance all the political bull anyway. I'll leave that to the print mags and sponsored rider-run websites...
Would love to try the KAs. A guy here in Ireland has 'em and keeps offering for me to come down and give 'em a go. Took my first spin on a cambered sail last month and have fully got the bug now. I used some loft blades and my instinct would be to try the ka first as a result of your achievements. (Plus I know from my days working for Gaastra in the 90s which designers are up on the CAD side of things - especially as amac designed the gaastra software at the time...)
Til then I'm gonna hunt my area of the west coast for a spot to rival yours! We have the wind...just need the magic location - and some skills like yours. Sorry if I caused offence!

No offence taken, good article, and good to see some coverage. Maybe one day a Gps 500 will surpass Albeau's and Finnians records by enough of an amount that it won't matter, or better still technology like the Trimble system made small enough for windsurfing may become the norm for windsurfing WR500 attempts.

the speed boards are 42cm, 47cm, and 55cm wide... Slalom boards are 57, 68 and 82cm wide... stay tuned.
the speed boards have plenty of volume compared to other boards on the market of similar width. They plane very early, and stay planing by design. Even the 42 is easy to get going. The point was making boards that can be sailed, tuned, and enjoyed in average, common conditions, so that when the wind turns up you can just go for it with total confidence. All of the boards were tested in a range of conditions (flat water, short nasty chop, open ocean breaking swells etc) without any dramas. They are based on the design I used to set the fastest GPS speeds in 2010. The 42 proto has the fastest GPS 500m for this year, along with a bunch of other nice times overseas (open water windsurfing record etc). More info will be available... soon
Nice range of boards. Is anyone going to be importing them to Australia Windgenuity seem to be still on 2011 Mistrals will they be getting any 2012's in?
