double Island point

Just looking at Jefro's tracks on Google Earth and scrolled up the page a bit.
I always thought of Double Island point as a big swell surfing spot, hadn't seen the sandbar before.

looks like it would need a Northerly or Westerly of some sort, guess that doesn't get strong enough to be worth the trouble of getting there? Anybody tried it?

Was up there maybe 5 years ago and did'nt see a bank, so maybe it is new ?
Would need W to N direction

I think it has always been there on a very low tide? I think you would need a northerly or north Easter.
I think there is plenty of room in the bay (to the west of the bar) but beach access is pretty restricted on a high tide (as I recall).
The land there is pretty high so I imagine in a westerly the breeze is restricted but OK if you want low wind/flat water, but it would be gusty?
