Hi all,
Am heading to Batemans bay at the weekend and have been given permission(by the boss!!) to take my gear.
Can anyone tell me if there are good flat spots there and what they are like. Also whether going from Sydney via the Princes Highway would be the way to go, or whether there is a better way.
I will be staying in Rosedale which just south of the bay.
Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,

We had a holiday at Batemans Bay a couple of years ago and I sailed there in north easterly breezes. The water was quite choppy so there may be better places to sail. We stayed in a nice cabin at the caravan park right on the water which is why I sailed off this beach.

Head down to Broulee. Its about 5-10mins South of Rosedale. Drive past Tomakin servo, over the Bridge then turn left into Mossy Point and Broulee.

You go over a little bridge over the creek entering the bay. Its known as North Broulee. Most guys rig up on the grass opposite the surf shop. Nice flat water and long runs in a Noreaster heading over the Broulee island ( Look on Google).

I havent sailed there yet as i wasnt into it when I lived there. A mate of mine sailed there the other week with about 8 others out. Reckons that and Gerroa where his picks for freeride from Kiama down. Nice long runs with clean wind.

Have fun mate. Great spot. Good surf at Broulee beach (next beach down) out the front of the Surf club as well.

If you've got kids, its a good swimming hole at the mouth of the creek at the Northern end of North Broulee, so you can just trot couple hundred metres down beach and start blasting.

Depending on where you are in Sydney its heaps quicker to go the Hume Highway to Goulburn then cut over to Braidwood then down the Clyde mountain. You miss out on all the 60 km zones on the Coast Road. If you live south side of Sydney you might as well push down the Coast.

Here is the google for North Broulee. Be keen to hear your thoughts on the spot. In a South East you may want to try over around Surfside (North of Batemans Bay) over the bridge.
