It was quite good at La Perouse today, but gusty of course. Sailed from 2 to 5, the only one out except for one other sailor who was out for an hour or so. Quite good swell coming in through the heads.

My first summer season here - strange to be storm sailing in summer. Is this common?

Who inverts the arrows, I mean really? Green = good right....!

Sailed here in the Gong from about 12-5pm, basically fully lit 4.2 the whole arvo. Pitty the tide was wrong for the break I was sailing because man the arvo could have been alltime if it was low tide at 2pm

CW: you sail heaps, you must have caring wife, the kind that 'doesn't care' that you go out whenever it's windy!

Rod: wait until we get a real southerly buster. 30K and 3m surf.

Chris, found freestyle heaven today.....well for a southerly anyways. After a quick sail with some friends at sanctuary point I got a call to go and check out a lake in the area. I packed up and headed for it, we got there and it was about 20knots with the odd gust but it was very steady. Dead onshore and super flat, i rigged in record time and hit the water with my 6.2 and 95l FSW. Maxed out on my 6.2 a 5.4 or 5.8 would have been enought, but given how flat the water was it was nice to be overpowered for a change. It has a weedy bottom and the Makani Mano 23cm was perfect, once you got out a bit a standard freestyle or small freeride fin would be ok but if you want to take advantage of the shallow super flat area a weedy or freestyle fin is a must. The biggest pice of chop I saw all afternoon was about 20cm high and that was only in a real windy period when it picked up to about 25 knots, the only other place flatter I've seen is shark bay in WA. We are going to check it out in the next nor'easter to see if it works, looks like it will but we'll see. Anyways for you guys that are into the flicky spinny stuff this place is for you, if you think Lake Illawarra is flat just wait till you see this spot.

Keen to check it out Jase, if its flatter than Lake Ill. man it must be flat :D Sounds like the wind doesn't get in there that well though given it was basically 26-34kts here all arvo...or was it lighter down there anyway? Hopefully my FS weedy turns up this week so i'm no longer at the mercy of that damn weed.

Tomp i'm not married, hence leave pass not an issue

The wind was stronger in the morning but by the time we got to that lake at about 3pm It had backed off quite a bit, as we packed up about 5:30 it was starting to rip in again. The lake is very close to the ocean and I'm sure it gets the full force of the southerly, we just turned up when it was a bit on the quiet side. My mate got 32 knots on his GPS without even trying, if the nor'easter comes through on Friday we are going to give it a go, and yes it's super flat.

Swan lake....nope, a bit further north

If you have the weendy app on your smart phone you can check out a quick vid of the location, if you don't have the app get it, it's a good way of finding out who's out sailing and how windy it is.
