Hi All

Firstly thanks to all those of you who have already donated gear or lent us their gear.

For the rest of you, can you donate pre-loved windsurfing Gear for youth windsurfers?

Come on we all have unused kit lying around that is un-sellable. This is your chance to donate it to loads of youth getting into our awesome sport this Summer!

As some of you know, we have been running windsurfing lessons for 17 Venturer Scouts on Tuesdays 430-7pm on Botany Bay Sydney. These kids are rapidly advancing and we are keen to keep them enthused and equipped. Therefore, we are asking for you to search under your house or in the shed for any gear that you can donate? We need:
• Boards of any volume 50 to 250 litres!
• Any masts – skinny or wide. Plus odd mast tops/bottoms or snapped masts (we have successfully cut down and cobbled together to make short masts)
• Sails – any sails. We can even cut down the huge triangular sails as beginner sails!
• Bases, extensions, fins – however old and ugly – we’re versatile with this stuff!
• Harnesses etc

Plus if you have a wide style type beginner board that you are willing to loan us for Summer then again we would love to be able to borrow that and you can just call me at any time to get it back if you need to use it.

Just bring the gear down to Wanda Wavesailing event 11/12 Dec 2010 or call me and I will collect it all up and give your gear a second lease of life, injecting new blood into our sport

You can check out some of their progress (on loaned gear) at

Thanking you in anticipation

Yours in getting more youth into windsurfing

Last week I was down at Kyeemagh windsurfing. Were you operating that day? It was quite windy and some of the kids were going really well.

It was really great to see it as its something not seen much anymore, people learning to windsurf. I don't have any old gear to give away unfortunately but wish you well.

Edit:

Just watched the video and it was that day, I'm actually in the video windsurfing with the red sail!

It was a top afternoon. One of the kids was going right out there on the plane on a small board.

Jase is doing a great job and getting good support from some of the local shops/online retailers. The NSWWA members are helping him out as well but all we have is wave gear!

Always great to see a new guy/girl getting the stoke so help Jase out. I've donated a near new boom and waist harness

Hi Mobydisc - yes it was us at Kyeemagh. We have the full array of skills happening from kids who are learing to tack to others who compete in the NSW wavesailing comps. And please be aware that we can still take wave gear - old harnesses and snapped masts are especially handy. We have been able to cut down some mast bottoms and fit into full tips to make short masts for the beginner 2m sails.

Crash landing - thanks for the boom and harness - they are both already been used on a regular basis. And you are right, we are being well supported by windsurf n snow, barracoutta and Loft sails at present but still need more gear.

A guy called Johnathan just contacted me this morning to offer:

- 75 ltr F2 wave board (very good condition)
- 4.2 m Aerotech wave sail
- A couple of ends of broken masts.

The stuff that the kids are not good enough to sail yet is being stored in a container we have managed to comandeer ready for when they get better. We have 18 of us attending a week long surf and windsurf camp in Gerroa 23-30 Jan 2011 where we will bring out the smaller gear too. Happy days.

Yours in getting more youth into our excellent sport

Will you still be running over the holidays as I'd like to bring my daughter down so she can get on the water at the same time as some other kids. We are geared up. Also think I can donate a US mast base, I'll hunt the garage!

Hi
Yes we will be on Botany Bay periodically through the Summer if your daughter wants to join us on her own gear. Send me your email ad and I will add you to the distribution list

Guys

We have now got up to 20 kids/adults (mostly venturer scouts) attending our windsurfing lessons and many are now approaching the harness and planing stage. We really need the following gear if anyone can donate or lend it us:

*Harnesses/hooks
*Harness lines
*More beginner boards

We have managed to secure a garage where we are storing all the short boards ready for when they get better so we are happy to add to the gear we already have if you want to clear your garage out.

THANKS in advance

Jason

19 of the venturer scouts were down at Gerroa windsurfing last week.

Thanks to Jason Pyke for the donation of 4.7 yesterday at Gerroa. One of our scout leaders we have been teaching at gerroa has just destroyed a crusty old donated 4.5 half an hour beforehand!

Plus HUGE thanks to Auswind who donated 5 harnesses, 6 pairs of harness lines and 20 tie downs. We needed these soooo badly

Plus thanks to the local gerroa sailor (sailworks sail) who donated 2 masts, 2 booms and an high volume old board too. We have found a fin to match.

Thanks to Adrien and Anthony for helping me teach the venturer scouts - it was much appreciated yesterday in the surf and 20 knots of wind!
