Ahh, just to clarify something, does it mean that the sailor has to be NSW based, the team has to be NSW based, or that the location of the GPS tracks have to be NSW based?
That's right Formula Nova, us ACT Gustbusters are a NSW team. The ACT, landlocked within NSW, is the spiritual home of the Gustbusters but we also have quite a few rag tag members from just over the border.
So are interstate sailors on holiday in NSW eligible to compete? Do they need a host NSW team in which to post those sessions?
Don't forget lord Howe Island, a popular destination for the travelling Gustbusters, is part of NSW.
Dale the ACT Gustbusters are a nsw team , i hope your points are counted because we have a good chance of taking the points for December & January
Great idea guys. Not much chance for Lake Illawarra guys - the fast conditions are in the winter! We'll give it a red hot go, anyway
My plans for 400km in a day may have to be moved forward !!!! (Watch out MT!)
The other "measurement" that may be worth thinking about is total kms sailed over the 2 months - great incentive to get people on the water!! Also good for work slackers, (like me! ), or people with long service leave (old ba@#$rds !)
We are running a similar competition in Queensland. The Windwanderers club has a speed comp that posts directly to KA72.com via our site (and shows computed results on our homepage. See right side of www.windwanderers.org.au/ homepage for the live results.)
Our competition is geographically limited to Queensland waters, and uses a variety of custom speed divisions (we are running a 2hr division this month, for instance.)
If you are interested in tight integration with ka72.com, drop me a line. It is pretty straightforward, and can be done via embedded iframes, or web service calls from your own site, depending on your level of technical skill.
Dylan.
Adam,
I think it would be good to crown a winning Team for the two months as well - would help to promote the camaraderie side of the GPSTC, which is one of the reasons it has been such a success.
Would also encourage more people to come to the end of season presentation/party so they can stand on stage as part of the winning team.
I had a quick check on the GPS TC website and there are six women that are in NSW that post regularly. More than enough for a competition. Better join a team to be part of the running.
Sue, you'd be very welcome in the Lake Macquarie team. Be warned though, it can be a bit addictive!
Depending on your budget there are a few options for a GPS that will work for the competition. Ranging from $250 downwards.
cheers
james
