Great fun day today at Gerroa, there must have been about 30 guys (and girls) on the water, the most I have seen in ages.
I guess everyone was having withdrawal symptoms from sailing after a lousy few weeks!
Tomorrow could be ok too but the waves will be smaller.
Glad to hear it was good. Wanda was a lot of fun with head high+ sets coming through and enough wind...
Couldn't believe there was wind and waves at Gerroa for a change.
Some nice sets coming through the bombie, but no wind. No place to be!
Yeah, Gerroa was fantastic. Everyone was getting lots of waves and everyone really seemed to enjoy it.
very nice Vid CJW. headed to Corrimal today but didn't come in as hoped.
had an awesome session at Gerroa yesterday after very little water sports action so far this year due to work commitments. a big thanks to my girlfriend to putting up with my babbling about how good it was all the way back to Sydney.
can't wait to see the pics / video of the action.
Good video CJW, some of the clearest headcam footage ive seen. That spot looks really good and a mechanical style wave...you get out too qwerty?
Hey Qwerts was that you out on one of the kite boards you could see in the back of some of the shots
Glad to hear you guys scored some wind and waves. That spots looks awesome.
Might have to organise a Novacastrian Road Trip.
What you reckon Peto ?
Kev
Come on Qwerts... remember the days when we were both Northern Beaches based... blasting out to that special spot out from Longy... those long peeling boomerang shaped waves.
Those were the days... back when there was wind in Sydney
How about sharing a wave or three for old times sake
Yep fair call.
Wouldn't want to crowd out the 'secret' spot for you and the kite boarders as seen in the video clip.
Wouldn't want to insert an additional kook into the equation
Enjoy the serenity.
Oh, and should you ever venture north past Newie let me know and I'll endeavor to return the favour [}:)]
Well its the secret spot nearby that we need to be protective of.
If word gets out, we might have to put up with up to 4 or 5 sailors on the water at once.
Yeah i second Crashes sentiments. Great video Adrien and showing good skills with the stills - perfect timing! The one of George throwing 3/4 mast high buckets off the top towards the end is a ripper. SMACK! You should offer that one to Point Seven for their brochure. Nice to have a visual reminder of a very fun Gerroa day but after CJW video maybe we should all go to Corrimal next time?

This video I really enjoyed. What a great day for all there. Gerroa is a great spot that I revisited last November after a 20+ year absence. Had a blast then sailing a 25knt NE'ly and look forward to more days like that, when I can get down there. The half day trip there and back kinda takes a bit away from the moment.
My local wave spot at Umina is a lot closer but usually not as good as Gerroa.
First time I sailed gerroa, and may have cracked a rib whilst sailing there, but the DTL sailing was worth it, probably most enjoyable DTL wave session I've had.
If it fires like this often (whenever NE and some swell), then i'll be making the trip down, regardless how long it takes.....(shame I'm still recovering from the rib crack, this WE should be f'n good, esp. with NSW wavesailing event on!!)
Can't say I've seen EC work like that CJW, though have always been out on the water somewhere else when it blows a NE'er and only sailed it in a S/SE'er. If its like that whenever a NE with a swell comes along, then I reackon thats the place to go for sydney folk, at least the swell break seems to extend out from the shore, so your not riding the shore break as the main break.....
KMAN that's pretty common for EC in a NE'r although there hasn't been much swell around this season. It's fairly average in a S/SE'r as it's super on shore. In that direction you are better off sailing up the other end of the beach at Towradgi or up the coast a bit at peggies.
