Awoke to a great day for water skiing! Ocean is as flat as pancake.
There is a 20 to 30 knt westerly forecast for this afternoon but you wouldn't think so looking at the conditions right now. It's about 2 to 3 knts from anywhere. That said, there is a weather front moving in as you can see from one of the photos below. It just started raining as well but that should clear once the wind arrives.
If the strong wind comes through I am guess the little swell there is will be completely flattened. We might see a bit more action tomorrow morning if the wind swings around to the SW. But from having seen what the Westerlies do around here I'd say any wind hanging around will be all but gone by mid to late morning tomorrow.
I probably won't bother with Port Kembla today given the lack of swell. Anyone coming down for the comp thinking about a sail in the Illawarra region today? Where exactly?
1:52 pm Update:
Rain front just came through with 40+ knts from the NW. Wind pretty quickly dropped back and it's currently 10 knts... not sure if this is the Westerly change they predicted.
2:45 pm Update:
Proper change just arrived. It's blowing 35+ from the SW. Perfect cross-off in Gerroa. Just a bummer there is zero swell. Time to finish work quickly and go for a sail.
3:10 pm Update:
Had a quick look out the window and strangely enough saw a bit of spray flying. Could it be? Could there really be a tiny amount of swell at Gerroa?
