took ted around to prentice ave , a nice calm spot , knee deep with short runs but very safe and 5knts less wind than the boatramp , I headed up to the entrance of the bay and noticed the wind had eased off so sailed up to the weed bed below the ramp , had some nice speed runs on the inside and was amassed how the 17cm weedie handled the chop
ted arrived back at the ramp for some lunch so I got him to drive me back to pick up my van and noticed I still had my gps on the last time I looked there was a 33+ on the dial, all in all a great days sailing

Hey Chris it would be great to see you down here,we have 3 good areas for freestyle,Keef's new spot at Old Erowal Bay (S+maybe NE),Paradise beach in a westerly and the weed beds north of the boatramp for NE to S winds.
Alex and I have been teaching a couple of his school mates.Rhys has had 6, 1 hour sessions and is already planing every run in the straps and jumping a freestyle 90 .Josh has had a few goes and is a determined little bugger that wants to out do Rhys. These kids will be freestylers by Xmas.
Alex needs some freestyle inspiration and would love to sail with you(as do I),we have been spending too much time with the old GPS nerds

carefull arky , chris the second pic is prentice ave 5nts less than the ramp but it is surprising how even the wind is, and the deepest part is waist deep rite up to the entrance and the wind picking up as you sail up , the depth of the water across the entrance is about knee deep
the first and 3rd pics are north of the ramp in the shallow weed bed, what you would love is sailing from the shallows into the chop in a southerly the further out you go the bigger the chop so you need a wide based weed fin to cope with both conditions , arky the clown was pulling off some huge floating jumps on his ca50 speed board and 6/7 freestyle wave sail on sunday
im sure you wont be driving past gerroa in a n/easter , but come to think about it we have a ss/e lined up for sunday , ill be working but ill catch you next time

That was a bit cheeky ;0... And I definitely didn't mean you (I was actually thinking about some of those yoyos from Lake Illawarra who just go up and down the same bit of water and are so narrow-minded focused on one thing - BORING!) You know you are one of my heroes and the kids think so too. I have actually been enjoying my GPS sailing and I reckon it has made me strong but I am a freestyler at heart although I like dabbling in all the different windsurfing disciplines.

Yeah I'll have to come down for sure. There are so many times when Gerroa is dead flat anyway so may as well sail SP right :) I always like sailing different spots, bit of inspiration. Next southerly i'll book it in, been ages since I've sailed with you and Alex :D

And yeah I'm slightly amused by the GPS guys going back and forth NOT EVEN GYBING a lot of the time ^_^ but by the same token they probably think i'm an idiot for beating myself into the mud trying stupid spinny things :D Horses for courses.

Back onto the topic of Sanctuary point -it is a brilliant windsurfing location and I believe it is the epicentre of wind in NSW which works in all wind directions. It is the best location on the east coast for improvers and particularly for learning beachstarts, waterstarts and gybing.

It offers not only a large area of smooth shallow water ideal for beginners but also flat water for GPS speed sailing and freestlye as well as big ramps out the back for fantastic B&J.

From here we also have beautiful Jervis Bay only 10 minutes away and Gerroa for epic wavesailing 35 minutes north.
The rigging location at the boatramp has a park with a playground for kids and is sheltered from the wind. Great for non-windsurfers and kids.
But the greatest feature is the close windsurfing community that is growing every day. Kids and women make up 50% of the riders ,so it's not your average blokey spot.

Wednesday and Thursday both look good this week. Hope you guys from Inverlock get to experience it at it's best and have a great time while you're here!

Jeez KA......are you getting commissions from the the SP tourist bureau?! But seriously it is a great spot from different wind directions, so agree with your spruiking of this location.

And I'm from the nerd brigade, but without the GPS, at least on water! Get me on the kite buggy on a beach and I'll match you at 70 kph, or snow kiting in the backcountry!

Hope the rest of the week gives the guys plenty of generous winds.

Cheers

Yeah, sometimes the kids even play just where you want to launch from. Or drop their rigs just where you need to walk through to launch from.

I've become an angry old man. "You kids keep off the grass!"

Seriously, why does everyone just dump their rigs where they get out of the water?

Well, I think everybody got home safely. Great trip. Sailed 4 out of 5 days. 3 days on my 5.8 and 105 ltr board and one day on the 6.6 and 120 ltr.
First day did not start off that well with a torn hammy after two runs and had to retire for the day. Next day there was no wind so ample time to recover and back out on the water for the next 3 days. Keef and Arky are windsurfing demi gods. Great to meet you guys and the rest of the crew. Arky you are doing great stuff with the kids - keep it up. Keef - the time you gave to help all us mexicans out, take our cheek and on the first day look after Ted was fantastic. Got time to start working on my carved gybes - wanted a lesson from Alex but he was out there having too much fun back flipping off his board! May be next time young fellow!
Will be back
