james
hi james, hows it going, is this race day, still open to non registered legends, pleeeease, because ive been to two of this slalom days, paid money, and am still to have a race, no ones fault, just poor conditions, but i would still luv the chance to have a go at racing and c what its like............ and cover myself in windsurfing glory!!!!
Hey Johnny,
Format will be the same as the Lake Mac event. Newcomers dont need to join a club first and just need to pay the event fee on the day. Forecast is looking good for Saturday so far. Race committee will confirm tomorrow lunchtime.
Cheers
David
IT would be great if you could make it Milsy.
I want it on Saturday like most and hope for a good NE breeze.
Looking forward to it.
Just roughly (I know it's hard to say) how long will it take to get through all the racing? Are we talking 2, 3, 4+ hours?
Hi Ben,
We are going to have rego at 11-11.30am. Plan is to run as many races as possible subject to wind. So we are probably looking at racing from midday till around 4 pm or later. There will probably be a few rest breaks as well.
You don't have to race every race if you don't want. It would be good to see you there as I don't think I've sailed with you since that awesome day down at foreshore road a few years ago.
Hope to see you there.
David
David,
If I can get a pass and borrow some quick gear (WSnS?!) then I'll come on down for a couple of hours of racing!
Would be great to give it a go.
Cheers
I'm hoping to get my wife and kids to come along and enjoy a day on the 'beach' with a picnic and kids gear.
Anyone else bringing a spouse or family?
Hi all,
The forecast is still looking great for a 15-20 knot nor-easter so we confirm that the event is definitely SATURDAY, and location will be Kyeemagh North Carpark.
A few more details about the day:
- Entry fee $20 per sailor - this money goes straight to WindsurfingNSW to cover costs (boat, fuel, insurance etc) and support the future of the sport.
- As mentioned earlier, you don't need to be a member of a club to race. However, only members of a club will be able to count points towards the overall NSW Slalom Series. So if you're thinking about racing at the two Sydney events as well, we would recommend that you join a club (Marmong, Stormriders, Illawarra, St George and Dobroyd are all WindsurfingNSW affiliated clubs).
- Remember that windsurfing can be dangerous, so please take care, sail safely, and be aware of other sailors around you especially at gybe marks.
- Important: Every sailor needs to wear a lifejacket while racing.
- Sail numbers - In order to record results, the officials need to have some way of identifying you via your sail. Formal AUS numbers are preferred, but if you dont have one of these, please bring along a roll of electrical tape to make a number up on the day (eg your initials, or a favourite number). Whatever you choose will need to be unique, so we will record these at registration.
- Schedule for the day
- Registration - 11am-11.30am
- Briefing - 11.30am
- Racing - 12 noon onwards
- Wind limits - 12 knots up to 35 knots (wishful thinking for NSW!)
- Race format – Figure 8 slalom course. At the briefing, each sailor will be allocated a heat in each round. This heat can be recorded on your arm, then before each start the Round Number and Heat (A or B) will be displayed on the boat.
- Drops - After every four rounds, sailors can drop their worst result.
- Start sequence - 2 minutes - More details of flags etc at the briefing.
hey, well it sounds sweet, im pretty sure ill be coming, thanks for letting us attend, which carpark, are you talking about the new one, or further down? its looking sweet, im getting excited, just out of interest, is there a minium size in terms of gear, or just a maxium,
Hey Johnny,
We will run it from the new carpark. The only gear restrictions is that boards need to be at or under 85cm wide and less than 10m sail. (PWA rules). No minimum sail or board size.
Cheers
David
If anybody needs gear for this event i have Patrik and Severne equipment for hire.

Thanks everyone for coming along.
With 20Knots NE winds expected all week, you can imagine out disappointment when we were skunked.
The good points were:
1-Seeing all the Uni-students out sailing,
2- bunch of new faces who turned up to have a crack,
3- The delivery of the NEW regatta trailer.
Again, thanks to everyone who made the effort and supported the Slalom Tour. Fingers crossed for heat3 early Jan13. We are over due some luck....
Thanks to brett and david for doing all the organising and the guys who carried the boat up and down from the beach.
See you again in 3 weeks time for heat 3.
