Ladies and Gents,
We won't mention the forecast but will let you know that the next NSWWA event is on this weekend. Due to unforeseen circumstances at this stage we will be running the event at North Entrance only. We have not been able to get waterways access to Toowoon Bay, which in turn means we would be uninsured.
A lot of work has been put into organising this event so we look forward to welcoming you all and seeing a healthy number of sign ons. Especially all the gun Central Coast sailors!
Sign on is at North Entrance SLSC.
Keep an eye on here, nswwavesailing.org or facebook for latest updates eg changes to sign on times.
We're all really looking forward to it!
Guys and girls, as some people have spotted we cannot compete at Toowoon Bay as the Waterways people have cancelled our application. We may be able to in the future but not this year. They have in excess of 400 nippers on Saturday morning with extra wide flags that extend hundreds of metres out to sea!
There is no way we can compete without going through the flags.
We have been informed that the south end of North Entrance (right next to the bridge/entrance to the lake) can work in a southerly.
If not, we'll have to suck it up and enjoy cross/cross-on jumping and backside riding. Clew first down the line really does sort the wheat from the chaff!
We hope for full support from the regular sailors and Central Coast guys as we can assure you, this was not the result we wanted; Tim Williams and Francois Régis have spent a lot of time trying to persuade people to have a different view.
Whatever happens at these events, they are always great weekends away with friends, family and like-minded people!
Thanks
As long as its windy who cares
If its good enough for Phillip Koster and the PWA I'm sure we can make do with 1 comp of onshore slop!!
Did you consider Blue Bay..??
Literally, just around the corner. It has a far superior wave than Toowon. When I lived there, I scored some of my best sessions at Blue Bay. I couldn't even count the amount of bottomturns on my hand.
Another spot that's not too far from The Entrance and works on a S is Lakes/Hargraves reef. That's if North Entrance gets too out of control.
I hope Craig Wilkingson takes out the Grand Masters, that's if he is still sailing. Absolute legend of windsurfing on the Coast, next to Steve Myers, that's if he is still sailing too.
Steve Myers is going strong!
Thanks for the advice on the spots. I think I sailed Blue Bay as a kid on a Tyronsea something in 1985. If its flagged it becomes a problem because the flags extend out 600m and there is an exclusion zone 60 mtres either side.
Will check out the outher spots you mentioned!
Tim
Hey Steve,
Wilco and Myers are still around. Wilco is now a grumpy old man and Myers is still sailing/kiting 7hours a day if it is windy.
You still breaking equipment? Still remember some of your patches on your sails and boards from the old days at toowoon and Norah head/pelo.
