Hope so,
I'm taking a week off work and its looking reasonably good. Haven't been sailing for a few months due to an injury but pretty much recovered.
Excellent wind at Kyeemagh. Fully powered up on a 6.6m sail. A bit overpowered in the gusts. Great day. Great weather. Seems like summer is here.
Ohhh yeah! Left work early, fully lit on a 4.7 like a boss. Pity there wasn't much swell around, had to watch out for the occasional waist high bomb that might catch you out ^_^
Hey CJW just curious, did you sail Corrimal or Gerroa? Reason I ask is I am coming down for a week soon and wondering what I should expect this time of the year for Gerroa. I have been there heaps of times but never this early in the season. Thanks in advance.
Sailed Corrimal. It's a bit hard to predict this time of season but often up here it can be windier than Gerroa, that said, I'd say today it was nuclear down there. As you probably know Gerroa is pretty much the most reliable place on the east coast for NE'rs and that typically stands true even this time of season. It's only 30 min up the coast to the Gong and it's a pretty easy drive so pick and choose I reckon
Summary: Can't really go wrong with Gerroa.
Yeah true, thanks mate. I will make the trip up to Corimal if that looks more promising. I will be in contact with Carl aswell. Cheers.
CJW,
that Bellambi graph was so consistent and I think Gerroa looked quite north so the 'gong looked like the windiest. Sydney was pretty summer type NE'r as well - in that it was 13-15 knots as long reef and 20-25 knots at airport & kurnell.
saw wanda on the web cam, that's as close as I got to a sail!
Was strongest up this way from midday through to 3pm... solid 20 knots then started to dip down as in entered mid to late arvo then got pretty patchy by 5 ish.
Occasional bomb set through Samurai at shoulder high.
5.4 and big wave board did the trick... obviously been in a good paddock over winter though as the big board wasn't that floaty
