Now that seabreeze forecasts are back, it looks like we're gonna get some W on Saturday. During last month session with similar conditions, I happened to have a nice time at dolls point (aka the kite beach south of sans soucis) : reasonably flat water and strong gusts (there's some kind of venturi effect I guess) so i'll probably try again this week end.

Leaning towards kurnell myself for next couple days.

last time i sailed ay Lap'per I kept running into bloody cray pot lines and boat moorings that have rope laying across the surface of the water.

there is only one spot for flat water in westerlies.... foreskin drive. it's not that suss since they cleared some of the vegetation.
went there a few time during the last lot of westerlies and itwas 2km of the flattest water ever! and that was over powered on a 5.8.

got bored of such flat water so went to port kembler for some waves and found perfect fun 3-4 foot cross shore DTL.

great conditions over three days and didn't see one other sailer?? maybe windsurfing is dying....

Where along the road do you park & launch from?

Hi guys,

I got out at La per at 2.00pm, 4.3 and the best bump and jump conditions . Still the best spot for a westerly imho.

nets are gone and beach is open. there are two new carparks, one in the corner next to run way and the other at the new boat ram at the other end of the beach.
last time i launched from the top corner.

lapa is definately the go for bump and jump, but for freestyle and speed sailing foreshore is perfect. it felt strange jybing in such flat water, just too easy.

Thanks for the tip (as it were) DunkO - went there for the first time this arvo and enjoyed it a lot. The wind was very up and down, but the flat water was a treat...

I eventually went to Kurnel due to friends giving me a lift. The wind wasn't that good, oscillating between 15 and 20. Gusts got stronger by the end of the afternoon. There were some kites and windsurfers on the water, including a guy with two Lofts, a carbon art and another slalom board (F2?) and another one teaching his daughter on a brand new maui sails 3.5 legend.
Since I had a waterproof camera, i brought it with me during the first runs, so got a couple of pics of some on the guys on the water. Use the email button above to contact me and get the original if you recognise yourself.

Hi CaptainHadoc, I saw you out there - I have the same Bic Techno e Small also. You were getting some great speed! I was on the lofts, and the big board was a Starboard S-Type 126.

The great thing about Kurnell is that you can have two boards and rigs ready to go, just sitting on the beach for when the westerly wind inevitably changes it's mind.

Such a great day!!

The bad thing about beeing a student is ... you can't afford the gear in the first place.
And talking about speed, there was nothingi could do to keep u with yours.... except between the gusts once you switched to 6.8/CA.

However, as I said, i have several other pics of you on your first set of gear so if you are interested, give me a way to send you them.
