I'm finding myself looking repetitively at the seabreeze wind graphs (obsessive–compulsive disorder) hoping for some kind of miracle. Infact, I chant a prayer to Aeolus constantly causing people to take a wide berth around me. There are more unsavory symptoms...

tell me about it...i sleep next to my iphone so i can wake up and check seabreeze. sad, but true.

the really frustrating thing is each time i've been gone out when its been windy, i seem to make heaps of progress ... but then have to wait weeks for the next time.

friday and sunday look half promising though, fingers crossed!!

Yep, one thing I want to do is to take a snapshot of the 5 day forecast as it changes everyday and becomes totally different from what they had thought.
I know sometime it's not easy and it can be very changy when a front comes (a day can be so different if the front comes at 2 pm or 7 pm).
But definitely it's been a very sad summer for wind lovers.
Let's see what autumn brings.

Weeks, really? What is your minimum required wind ?

Current forecast says 15 soon and 20 knots later this week...

Forecast and actual are usually unrelated to each other. Unless no wind is forecast.

My requirement is at least as windy as last time ... windgods, got it? thanks.

Actualy, it's all my fault. I was complaining back in November about it being too windy, and so I went out and bought a smaller 5m sail and used it once. But now I've bought a 8m sail, I expect things will go back to normal

Just plan some activities such as renovating your bathroom. Once you are committed, have spent a great deal of cash and are working on the job, expect the wind to blow.

Committing to unpullable get-togethers with the in-laws works too.

Still, what kinda winds do you want for the 5m and the 8m ?
The 8m should afford you some OK range... worst case go out and practice sail 360s, etc.

I think this... but also depends where I'm sailing, I'm more cautious when going out in the ocean, so more likely to go down a size even if that means coming back in and re-rigging.

5.0m: 20-25kts
5.7m or 6.7m: 15-20kts
8.0m: 8-15kts

Bah, 8-15knts looks quite OK for going out at least half+ the time?
Or pick up a cheap used freestyle/wave sail and freestyle around near shore...

Good luck (forecast in Sydney looks OK still for later in the week.)

Talking about wind, Sydney's Sunday NE was great. Has anyone looked at the wind graphs for the rest of the week...it's all green. That fits in with me being away for work naturaly

Weather forecast came good today, I was out at Narrabeen this afternoon.

Not much happening until about 3 or 4pm then the weather completely changed and the 8m sail i'd just bought for "windless" days got a whole lot more interesting

Wasn't gusty at all for a change..

Now i'm happy again
