Entry into RQYS grounds for the Waterloo Bay Cup Windsurfing Marathon will be as follows:-

Refer to the RQYS site layout in Attachment A of the Notice of Race above.

On Sunday, windsurfers can drive into the club grounds through the first boom gate (beside the motel) which will be open. A further 150 metres ahead is a second boom gate which will be closed. We hope to have a person on the second boom gate to open it for windsurfers after 10.30AM.

Alternatively, 50 metres past the first boom gate, pull over to the left and duck in to RQYS reception. Introduce yourself as a competitor in the windsurfing marathon and ask for a temporary access code, so you can pass through the second boom gate into the club rigging grounds.

I must have done something wrong in my previous windsurfer's life...
First date was during my exams and now I will be in New Caledonia at the same time and I'm going to miss a barbecue as well

Yes Julien, our hearts bleed for you being in New Caledonia

Ho well, I'll do my own marathon in l'anse vata to comfort myself...

It is a long way out so plenty of time for the forecast to pick up and I hope it does

Me too, last time I was maxed on a 7m and it was awesome. A marathon in light winds with a big sail is always a lot more challenging but it is a long way out from the event yet so the forecast has plenty of time to change for the better and the seabreezes have been good lately so fingers crossed it will be a repeat of the last event.

Why not make a day of it at RQYS?

On Sunday, 8 December 2013 as part of the national Discover Sailing program the Squadron will be hosting a Discover Sailing Day.
Activities kick off at 9:00 AM

You'll have the option to go out for a short sail with an experienced sailor, have a look around the club facilities, and find out about the programs and courses available. There is something for the whole family and even kids as young as five years old can sail when accompanied by a parent or guardian. People of all-abilities are welcome and some clubs offer accessible facilities for people with a disability.

Discover Sailing Days are free to attend and all boats and safety equipment is provided by the Club. All you need to bring is clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet, sun screen, and a hat. Shoes with non-marking soles are preferred.

A Discover Sailing Host, will welcome you to the club, answers any questions, and explains the activities taking place during the Discover Sailing Day. It's recommended you allow at least 1.5 -2 hours if you want to get out on the water
Bookings can be made on line at www.discoversailing.org.au

The current weather prognosis for Sunday is based on a prediction of where a 1033 hPa high pressure system (currently 1000 klms southwest of Bunbury WA) will be in 5 days time.

Let's not get too pessimistic yet!

As part of the Discover Sailing Day we are setting up a windsurfing display to promote the sport and support the club. I am going to take names of people that may be interested in their kids taking up the sport in an effort to get a junior squad (8-15yo) up and running at the club next season so if you have kids and think that they may be interested to become windsurfers please come and visit the display and put some names on our "expression of interest"

Super sailing conditions for Club Racing at RQYS this afternoon; 11-14 knots from the NE as measured on the course. Reece Baillie on his RS:X was planning upwind most of the time.

Forecast from BOM late today for Moreton Bay for this weekend:

Forecast for Saturday until midnight
Winds: Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots.
Sunday 8 December
Winds: Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots reaching 15 to 20 knots at times in the afternoon.

Don't believe the Seabreeze - 7 day Wind and Wave Forecast for Brisbane; it is a little out of date. Forecast encouraging for the RQYS Green Island Marathon & The Waterloo Bay Cup tomorrow. See you all there

The horse is dead - stop flogging it. It will still be a great arvo if Ritchie's providing the tunes and the beer is cold.

Looking forward to a great day today. Whenever I visit RQ there is a great positive vibe and its a fantastic place for the kids to learn to be responsible and have a real can do attitude. I'm hoping to get my kids into a sailing program there at some point if it is for no other reason than to have this positivity rub off on them.

The prediction isn't great but I'm still going to bring my kit along. We bought the boat home yesterday afternoon and I was surprised how much wind was on given the red arrows on the charts and there were a number of sailboards on the water.

Thanks to all involved in the organization of the event. Its days like these that really bring us together as a community and help keep the families involved.

I hope to see you all there.

It's a clear hot day so as with yesterday the sea breeze will add some pressure and it could easily become sailable. If not we can sit back and listen to Richie's tunes and have a quiet beer.
