Entry into RQYS grounds for the Waterloo Bay Cup Windsurfing Marathon will be as follows:-
Refer to the RQYS site layout in Attachment A of the Notice of Race above.
On Sunday, windsurfers can drive into the club grounds through the first boom gate (beside the motel) which will be open. A further 150 metres ahead is a second boom gate which will be closed. We hope to have a person on the second boom gate to open it for windsurfers after 10.30AM.
Alternatively, 50 metres past the first boom gate, pull over to the left and duck in to RQYS reception. Introduce yourself as a competitor in the windsurfing marathon and ask for a temporary access code, so you can pass through the second boom gate into the club rigging grounds.
It is a long way out so plenty of time for the forecast to pick up and I hope it does
Why not make a day of it at RQYS?
On Sunday, 8 December 2013 as part of the national Discover Sailing program the Squadron will be hosting a Discover Sailing Day.
Activities kick off at 9:00 AM
You'll have the option to go out for a short sail with an experienced sailor, have a look around the club facilities, and find out about the programs and courses available. There is something for the whole family and even kids as young as five years old can sail when accompanied by a parent or guardian. People of all-abilities are welcome and some clubs offer accessible facilities for people with a disability.
Discover Sailing Days are free to attend and all boats and safety equipment is provided by the Club. All you need to bring is clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet, sun screen, and a hat. Shoes with non-marking soles are preferred.
A Discover Sailing Host, will welcome you to the club, answers any questions, and explains the activities taking place during the Discover Sailing Day. It's recommended you allow at least 1.5 -2 hours if you want to get out on the water
Bookings can be made on line at www.discoversailing.org.au

Don't believe the Seabreeze - 7 day Wind and Wave Forecast for Brisbane; it is a little out of date. Forecast encouraging for the RQYS Green Island Marathon & The Waterloo Bay Cup tomorrow. See you all there
The horse is dead - stop flogging it. It will still be a great arvo if Ritchie's providing the tunes and the beer is cold.
Looking forward to a great day today. Whenever I visit RQ there is a great positive vibe and its a fantastic place for the kids to learn to be responsible and have a real can do attitude. I'm hoping to get my kids into a sailing program there at some point if it is for no other reason than to have this positivity rub off on them.
The prediction isn't great but I'm still going to bring my kit along. We bought the boat home yesterday afternoon and I was surprised how much wind was on given the red arrows on the charts and there were a number of sailboards on the water.
Thanks to all involved in the organization of the event. Its days like these that really bring us together as a community and help keep the families involved.
I hope to see you all there.
It's a clear hot day so as with yesterday the sea breeze will add some pressure and it could easily become sailable. If not we can sit back and listen to Richie's tunes and have a quiet beer.
Just checked the NOR which has no minimum wind limit. So I guess the forecast is ideal??????.for a Mountain Bike Ride
I'm not suppling the music. Just the commentry. Hooray is bring down his Osmonds Christmas Album and his Danish Death Metal Greatest Hits records....I suppose I could bring the "Richie fish" CD. It's kinda surfy in a silly way....
Even though I'm stuck at work I still hope you guys get wind for this awesome event. Well done Ray! Hopefully next year for me!
(I'm sadly also missing out on Richiefish's antics too )
